Kroil to clean carbon on rings

Never tried Kroil but I've used Seafoam to remove carbon deposits on intake runners to good effect. The GM dealerships have a good cleaner too that might soften up hard carbon deposits, ACDelco X66P.

    What a MESS !!!

Try a 5S approach I hear you. I somethings think a hoarder/slob lives in my gargage because it couldn't be me making all that mess. :willy_nil It gets to a point I have to stop working altogether and clean the whole mess up before I can continue on a project. I've been gradually adopting a...

    detahed garage owners:humidity/moisture inside?

I find if a building is unheated, the air will tend to equalize to the average outside humidity levels. A cold concrete floor doesn't help either as humid air can condense and feel damp. I run a dehumidifier in my detached garage during humid summer days and rainy fall weather to protect the...

    Canopy garages/shelters

Costco has one of the better ones that I've seen. The HF ones are cheesy in comparison. They work OK but DO NOT park anything of much value in them. Strong winds or heavy snow can take them down and either of those conditions can come about by surprise. I used one to temporarily shelter a...

Any experience with Home Depot Curbside Delivery

Check with their customer service to be sure but I had Home Depot deliver a Husky 2-stage upright and they brought it up a 300' driveway and droped it at the garage door. It's on a pallet and it was up to me to get it the rest of the way.

    Cost of Building Supplies???

Sheathing price hikes are often associated with hurricane/tornado season. Supply and demand or just good old price gouging on speculation I suppose.

    What paint do I use?

You'll want a base coat of PVA primer/sealer for new drywall. The sealer keeps the topcoat even looking plus it will use less paint.

Decent, but affordable 8' fluorescent fixtures?

You should be pleased with them. I'm running 12 of those 4 X 4' Metalux and have had no problems. The Sylvania ballast is a good design. Even my FM stereo works OK.

Sunoco Wayne 511 Blend-O-Matics on CL

I like that era of pumps too. One thing I don't understand is why almost all the restored pumps have the actual pump mechanisms removed and they are described as just display pieces. Even if I didn't want to use it as a pump, I'd still want all the internal pump parts intact. Makes about as...

Covering fiberglass insulation that has a little mold

Would have to see pictures to better advise. Where there is mold, you would want to see if it is just on the surface of the fiberglass or runs deeper. If more than just the surface, I would tear it out and replace. If just the surface and very spotty/light, you could just remove the old poly...

    Wall hanging garage vacuum

So I decided to go with the Bissell Garage Pro since it had decent reviews and had the blower function plus water pickup and reusable filters. I like the idea of not having to buy proprietary disposable filters. There is someone on ebay selling 3 new in the box Bissells for $129 delivered so...

    Wall hanging garage vacuum

I'm looking for a reasonably priced wall mounted vac to mostly deal with car cleaning and light shop cleaning. I'll still have a heavy duty shop vac on hand for bigger jobs. I've found the following three wall mount vacs that fit my budget and they appear similar. They also look like consumer...

Post frame buildings as a house

You should probably also get both types of construction quoted out finished for comparison. You will likely find the cost begin to equal out since post construction often requires more labor and material to finish out that stick built in my experience.

Getting a mortgage for a property with only a garage on it.

Are you are planning on building a home too? If so, save your cash and try to get a short term contract from the seller for like 5-10 years. Then get a convetional mortage when the house is finished and pay off the contract. Usuallay to get a building permit, you will need a deed of trust...

HF 26" 8 Drawer Bottom Chest and 8 Drawer Top Chest

Thanks mrbreeze for scanning that $289.99 coupon. It worked for me today and this cabinet is a steal at that price. Quality was great for a homeowner grade cabinet.

    Garage window coverings

If it were me, I would use a frosted window film that adds privacy but still allows daylight to come in. This would not collect dust and obsure views day and night. If you want to block daylight too, perhaps just a pull down shade...

luvit owns a kill-a-watt. what does yours say?

I used mine to discover that the cheap cfl bulbs I was using have terrible power factor which means high peak currents even though wattage is low. That can be tough on switches. I now try to limit cfl's to just those areas that require low wattage lights to be left on for long periods of time...

    Attic Venting?

When you insulate if you use baffles to maintain air flow from the soffit vents to the ridge vent then you shouldn't need the gable vents. You'll need deep rafters though to get enough insulation and the baffles all in there. If it's just for storage, you might leave the gable vents and build...

    Automatic Compressor Drains

I went through 2 of the Harbor freight ones and both lasted about 1 weak before not working and leaking. This is definitely one of those items that gives them their reputation. Sometimes stuff is OK, sometimes ****. This was ****.

    Wet Blown In Insulation

Sort of depends on if it is fiberglass or cellulose but either way it won't turn into a rock. Once wet both sort of slump into a paper mache' like consistency. Cellulose is probably the worst.
