    Tool box first aid

I never thought about having eye wash at home, but thats probably what you'll need the most. Everything else people are likely to have or you can make due with Paper towels and tape.

    Flourescent strip lighting layout

The open lights work fine because they illuminate 360 degrees for 4 foot. I agree to put some light over the WB, even it separate from your main lighting. Take it from me, spend a little more than the cheapest lighting and upgrade to a better fixture with a better ballast. I bought the...

    Garage outlet questions

Fingered it out. Bad GFCI outlet. That's sucky because I had everything jammed into the box like I wanted it. HD has the 3 pack of 15 amp GFCI for $30. I spent $30 on two of the 20 amp. :(

    Garage outlet questions

Ok. I made some progress, but need some help. I took a section of the wall paneling down where the last outlet and lights were powered from. I ran 2 12/2/g one for the lights and one for the outlets to my panel. I wired 4 outlets to the 12/2 for the outlets with the first in series being a...

    Will your wife help

Most of the time its a huge problem to get my wife to help and probably 75% of the time, it ends with one or both of us sore about it. She has no desire to do anything repair, new build, paint, sand, no. She'll let me buy any tools, toys, etc and she's not high maintenance, but she's not good help.

    Garage outlet questions

These questions are more about mechanics of doing things and ideas. 1) I have 5 outlets in the garage, the garage door opener, the outside plug, the outside light, the laundry room light and the garage lighting on one circuit. I want to split those up. Because the walls are sealed and...

    welding gas cylinder size

I'm an occasional hobbyist welder. I've got a typical sized cylinder - about 4 feet tall I guess and I've not come close to running out in years. I've made a few carts, fixed a few lawnmowers, etc. Nothing heavy duty, but it has lasted me this long. Purchase vs rent for sure. I think you made a...

Painful moments while working in the shop..

Building a carport at home. Shooting nails into the rafter with a framing gun. I shoot one nail, recoil second nail into my hand between thumb and index finger. Felt what seemed like a thump and looked down and the nail was in my hand up to the tape. I wasn't sure what I hit, so I went to the...

    New Lawn Mower?????????

Unless you want disposable, might want to avoid the big box stores. I bought a JD SP push mower and its OK, not overly impressed with it for the $400 I spent. It has a B&S motor and with some stabil in the fuel every season, it starts on the second or third pull. Unless you have a physical...

    Garage Plan

Background: Late Summer 2009, we bought a fixer-upper house. We spent about 5 months living in our old house and fixing this one. Because of dual house notes and a renter in waiting, I did most of it and all of what we had to do to get in. Then I was burnt out. Stuff is still unfinished. We...

    Beefy 115v motor...help? (large pics)

Just an FYI, a 29 amp load is not copacetic with a standard 3 prong plug. A twist lock similar to what is used on portable generators would be more correct, but there are several options, I believe. One option that I would recommend you look into is to see if this motor is capable of dual...
