    1975 industry hardware week

Found this neat little guy at the restore today. Possibly a give away from canadian tire back when they sold husky? Too bad nobody i know, knows husky for anything other than the import junk they sell today. (Home Depot canada doesnt have the same stuff as the states i dont think. Here it is...

What are these sockets used for?

Funny how things work, on saturday i found a clutch drive proto screwdriver at the restore for 50 cents. Remember seeing the screws somewhere but couldnt remember. Never got around to googling it before i saw this. LOL.

    passing "it" along

:D Great story. Nice to hear! I never got to inherit anything, but left a round the house toolkit with a set of sk wayne wrenches and quality stuff i peiced together at my folks this weekend, to replace some random dollar store grade things. At least i have something to use when im down.

Lets make an all vintage Snap-on tool picture thread!

I have an old ww2 era 1/2" and 9/32 drive 5/16 square. Both with no dates, but i researched the other day and they arent valuable. Im was trying to throw together a snap on lot to try and trade for a proto or sk ratchet, but most is boring 60s SAE stuff.

    Carlyle Professional Hand Tools Pics

As far as canada... My first real socket set was an ultrapro one with 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 that i was gifted probably 12 years ago. It has recieved heavy use and was recently upgraded for proto stuff i peiced together used. The ratchets got a little bit sloppy, i broke a 3/8 extension, but have to...

help me decide wich multimeter functions i need!

For auto / home stuff i would get a klein meter from home depot or a greenlee from any electrical supply store. An "amp clamp" style meter that you can clamp around a wire for an amperage reading may come in handy down the road. Theres not much you couldnt solve with that. Greenlee had a kit...

Socket Showdown: 14mm SK, Toptul, CM(G2/USA)

Interesting, i like the look of the toptul. I have come across some older "westward" sockets that have the same shape as the toptul. Westward is the house brand for acklands grangier i think and their current offerings are overpriced import rebadged stuff very common in western canada industrial...

    Grandpa's Tools

Thats cool, both my grampas were welders, but the tools all disapeared years ago. There is nothing id love more than some of their old stuff. Maybe thats why im into this vintage stuff. Thanks for posting!

Made in China is inferior because of inferior workers or reduced specifications?

This seems almost like a liberal fiending to call someone a racist bigot... Tools made in usa, canada, germany, etc, are made by people who make a fair wage, and have some degree of pride in their career and what they are producing. Chinese tools are made because some corporation contracted...

    Gray ratchet mystery

Thanks for the replies. I wouldnt have thought, but after researching a bit its definetly a wright. It has a very quality feel to it and I quite like it. I will be able to put it to use for sure. Thanks again!

    Gray ratchet mystery

Longtime frequent lurker, seldom poster, have a question. Picked up some stuff from the classifieds, mainly for a gray canada pearhead and craftsman ratchet ( craftsman fairly uncommon up here ) Anyways, there was a ratchet which sure looks 70s - 80s Japanese, but is marked gray? Its the rubber...

    ClikStop

I use a clikstop proto at work and love it. I found it on a dirt road in northern bc! It has had quite a life.

    Adjustable Wrench... choices

The channelock wide opening ones are great if you are an electrician or plumber and need for fittings, etc, if you are strictly turning bolts i recommend proto clik stop.

    rusty Hazet 450N wrenches

I have a bunch of stahlville 14s and after emergency repairs in the snow they always get rust. Still love them. They are 2nd hand very old for what its worth. Ironiclly my cheap mastercraft maximum ones look hardly used after much use.

Industrial sawmill electrician here. Jet used to be made in Japan long ago, but China / Taiwan now. We have there dual pawl ratchet sets as a shop set at work, they are China I think but very very pleasant to use. I would reccomend. I dont think they are cheap though, plus hard to turn the...
