Neglected century barn is becoming my workshop and garage

Nice job on the Wilton. I saw it on kijiji but decided it was was too small. I will find a good 6" vise for the new bench I built.

    Something just clicked…..

The water table where I am is 10-15 feet down, so that is why they dug down that far. With yours water table being much closer to the surface, you won't have to go as deep. You can also go with 4' tiles to increase the amount of available water if your well flow rate isn't high. If I am...

    Something just clicked…..

That is how the hand dug shallow well at my place is built. Just 36" round concrete casing tiles stacked on top of each other in a hole in the ground. Mine goes down about 24 feet or so, and I have 10-15 feet of water in it at any time. That is about 800 gallons of water.

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

I will be getting some updated pics soon. I have been pretty busy on the place. I replaced a bunch of siding around the patio, and am going to be building some decking in the next week or two and making an privacy railing around it. Then I can actually use the patio! I also have the hoist...

    Something just clicked…..

I am a list maker, and it really helps me get things done. I take all my tasks and figure out what order they need to be done in. Then I break down each task into sub tasks, and the first 3 things on each sub task is: 1) Clean work area and inspect 2)Get materials 3)Get needed tools Then the...

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

I ended up taking off the stuck drums off the back of the truck, and the front calipers off the front wheels, but the disks still wouldn't turn. The bearings were shot and I had to clean and repack them for the front wheels to turn. Now the truck rolls easy and I can move it with one hand. The...

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

Hoist is wired after moving the truck. What a pain that was. Had to get a couple of friends to push it, and that is after removing the rear drums that were stuck. I think I am going to have to pull off the front calipers also. I even cleaned up the shop and ended up throwing out a ton of...

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

The hoist is up. I just need to finish wiring it up the truck in is the way and it doesn't want to roll. Doesn't help that there is several hundred lbs of camaro parts in it also. This weekend I am going to pick up a new frame for the truck, and hopefully get all the cars moved around so I...

Swedish workshop in a old brewery

Its a 76/102mm compressor, with a 83/96mm turbine with a 1.08 A/4 T6 housing. This motor only revs to 5500rpm with the small cam, so it should be alright and good for about 800hp.

    2 Post lift/power unit location

I have a 2 post symmetric currently, and I mounted the power pack on the drivers side of the car. All my other hoists had it on the passenger side. I am finding that I bring a car in, get out, set the arms on the drivers side, set the arms on the passenger side, and then walk back to the...

    Load center brand preference

I have used Seimens in the past with good luck and have a ton of brand new Siemens breakers left over. The current load center in my place is an old Seimens also, and I recently upgrade a lot of breakers in it to Arc faults. When I upgrade my service to 200amp next year, I will go with a...

Swedish workshop in a old brewery

What ECU are you using to control that volvo? I am working on a project involving a TV7301 turbo (76mm) on a mild 454 - that 7.4l for you euro folk.

Strouty, I follow this thread, and think that you have made great progress on your shop, but take care of your personal life first. All this stuff is just that - stuff. It will wait for you, while your personal life may not. If its something that needs your attention, I am sure that nobody...

Neglected century barn is becoming my workshop and garage

Your work is still outstanding. And I agree, you are making the rest of us look bad. It took me over two weeks just to get the pillars for my hoist up, and in that time you completely restored a drill press, and modified it with a VFD and foot control... I would go talk to the local community...

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

I have finished anchoring the pillars for the hoist to the concrete. I had one one redhead anchor come up quite a bit before it grabbed and was able to be torqued down, but it is sitting right now at the fasteners recommended 110 ft-lbs. The 3"x3" angle outriggers were optional for this hoist...

I will start a thread on the cars when I am back to working on them. I am trying to keep this one just for my shop itself.

    Changing compressor oil ?

I do mine yearly or so. For the $8 for the oil, its cheap.

My new place! The Mopar Mill!

I spend all weekend working on getting the hoist setup, but it was mostly spent running around. I had to search for a 7/8" drill bit (which for some reason nobody had in stock), and then for a 1 1/8" deep socket. Then I had to clean off the drill press and find the chuck key. Long story...

    Campbell HAustell compressor

I have that exact compressor. It is a 6004 CH compressor on a 60 gallon tank. It is a single stage and should have a cutoff switch at about 125psi. If you look on the tag on the front it will say something like HL7017 which would be the model number. Mine has a 3.7hp true horsepower motor on...
