Pole Barn Heating Vs. Ventilation Question

Its not a "blower" type heater...its a radiant tube type heater. It heats the objects in the room like the sun does and it works very well. Even so, I'm with you, it seems counterproductive at 18 degrees to have an open vent on each end of the building.

Pole Barn Heating Vs. Ventilation Question

Well as you know, here in the Northwest we have quite the humidity in the winter time with all the rain as well as some pretty radical temperature swings when we go from cold spells back to average, wet temps, etc... My old pole barn that I lost in a divorce years ago sweat like a big dog...

Pole Barn Heating Vs. Ventilation Question

Yes, the exhaust is vented outside and the heater is kept at a minimum level to ward off freezing during cold spells. My concern about covering the vents is, will that create a moisture laden environment because of no fresh air exchange?

Pole Barn Heating Vs. Ventilation Question

They're out in the open. They're framed into the structure and surrounded by insulation on all 4 sides. Several inches below the rafters, built into the wall.

Pole Barn Heating Vs. Ventilation Question

Hello all...I live in Western Washington State. I have a 30' x 42' x 14' pole barn that has the plastic encapsulated insulation on the entire ceiling as well as the walls. I also have two insulated roll up doors. I am heating it with a thermostatically controlled 30 foot natural gas 80,000...

    Received my BendPak XPR-10A-168 today

Fantastic play by play explanation of the whole process! I too, am planning this very task out in my head at this time for my newly built pole barn. I want to put a 4 post lift in it and am continually contemplating how I'm going to get it home and when I do, how am I going to get it off the...

Pole Building - south Puget Sound

No drywall, just fully insulated walls, ceiling, and both roll up doors are fully insulated as well. Drywall would be super easy to install and I may do it some day down the road just for ease of hanging signs, posters, banners...but it looks just fine without for now. I have an electrical...

Pole Building - south Puget Sound

I just had a turn-key, 30 x 42 x 14, fully insulated, cement included, pole barn built by Permabilt for right around $30,000 in Olympia, WA. I'm pretty happy with the overall results...fire away if you have questions.

New floor in the morning.. 2 post lift soon

Love the F-117 Stealth Fighter hanging on your wall. I worked on the whole fleet of them for 13 years until I retired from the Air Force. They retired them shortly after my retirement too. :(

    Insulation Question

We furred out our basement with 2x6's and used Kraft Faced R-19 insulation rolls stapled to the 2x6's. We then covered up with sheet rock and taped/textured/painted. Total transformation!

    Peter Egan's Toolbox

Peter retired from writing in Cycle World too :( He was the primary reason I have always been a subscriber. Then the magazine went with that new aged hipster crappy look...changed the font, the format, etc... I personally think they changed the format to accommodate short attention spans...

My garage build / progress thread

Love the Honda S-2000's...especially the yellow one. My ex-wife got our yellow '05 S-2000 in the divorce. It had the factory aluminum (matching color, special ordered) hardtop and everything. I loved driving that car...sigh. Now I have to settle for an '03 Mustang Cobra, factory...

    What you got this Thanksgiving?

Id say you scored big on that one...good job. I tried to do that at Walmart at 6pm after all of our Turkey Day festivities had wound down. Wanted to score a 70" Visio TV for $988 at 8 pm. Typical bait and switch BS. They got a total of 3 TVs in that size and there were already 3...

    Removing spilled gear lube

This! ^^^^ Brake fluid works great for cleaning all kinds of petroleum messes and stains. I use if for cleaning all sorts of messy stuff. If you clean steel prior to welding though, make certain you dry it first...if you heat it into a cloud it creates Phosgene Gas which is super lethal!

    How many aircraft/A&P's here ?

Yeah, I worked them up at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska. I met a lot of guys over my career that worked the T-33's at Tyndall as well (I could tell by your pics that was Tyndall...been TDY there many times. William Tell especially). Small world...

    How many aircraft/A&P's here ?

Damn, check that out...T-Bird's! I cut my teeth on them in the Air Force. Even flew in one when I had to go do an emergency inspection on all of our grounded F-15 alert jet fighters all over Alaska during the Cold War. They were a great little Korean War era jet...our Fully...
