I've got a 30' x 42' x 14' fully insulated Pole Barn style shop. I heat it straight down the center with a 30' long radiant tube heater. It's dual stage, 80,000 BTU's, thermostatically controlled, inexpensive, runs on natural gas. I absolutely love it...I can walk out to the shop when its...

4 Post Lift -- Installation and use questions

I have a Greg Smith Garage Pro 9000 4 post and I love it. I work on my lifted TJ's suspension all the time because my 4 post came as a package deal with 2 rolling bridge assemblies, which work great. I also put my Chevy Duramax Crew Cab on the 4 post for suspension work etc... Right now I...

Ever just sit in your shop and think?

Its actually part of my daily routine. I come home from work, put my lunch pail on the kitchen counter and go out to the shop to decompress from the day. Flick on the lights, plop into my lawn chair and just sit and stare at my 62 C10 on the 4 post lift, look at my motorcycles...think of...

I like your TJ! I've got a 98 TJ that I'm getting ready to install Rubicon running gear & transfer case into. Trying to make up my mind what lift I want to get in the future for it...long arm, short arm...the debate continues in my mind, lol.

    Another 4-Post lift question

I bought the Garage Pro 9000 from Greg Smith Equipment. It came with rolling bridges, casters, etc... Its extra long, extra wide, and extra tall so that it will fit my crew cab diesel Chevy too. The casters work just as you mentioned...they work on leverage. They're long for leverage and...

How r u guys cleaning grease/oil off 4-post lift ramps?

Brake cleaner...it absolutely dissolves oil and grease so that you can wipe it up with a paper towel immediately. It wont harm the paint as long as you wipe it up right away.

How did you learn your trade?

I did 20 years in the US Air Force. Best decision I ever made. Travelled all over the world, learned how to work on all types of aircraft, how to lead and mentor people, how to write effectively, etc. I now have great medical coverage, a retirement check and a marketable trade that I have...

    radiant heater

You can do it! I did a 30 footer in my 30x42 pole barn with 13 foot high ceiling all by myself...that was an interesting feat! I used lots of ratcheting tie downs strategically placed and another to winch the steel pipes up in the air...worked pretty well. Only down side was, there was no one...

Here in Washington State, I have an 80,000 BTU 30 foot radiant tube heater in my 30 x 42 x 14 foot pole barn. I turn it down to 45 to 50 degrees when I'm not out there for any length of time. I typically will turn it up to 58-60 degrees when I come out to do any work for any length of time and...

    Radiant Tube Heater Advice Needed

I talked with the sales person for literally 45-50 minutes regarding specifications on my pole barn. He was super, super nice and helpful. Asked square footage and height questions of course. What type of insulation to factor in projected heat loss, climate I live in, etc... He also wanted...

    underground gas line cost?

I had to go through the initial cost of tapping into the gas main and getting a meter installed because my property never had gas service installed yet. This was very expensive at $2800!! But again, very well worth it to be able to have my dream shop heated just the way I want it, anytime I...

    underground gas line cost?

Here in the expensive Northwest (Washington State), I just paid $1700 to have a gas line run from the meter to my shop. I pre-dug the ditch, laid the sand, etc. It was about a 60 foot run with a couple of fittings on the flex line and two vertical risers. This price also included running the...
