Here is a Builder's website for ideas

I found a local builder to me that only builds garages and shops. His website is pretty good for a small contractor. He shows several different projects he's completed and has a very good check list when planning your shop. I don't expect someone from out of this area to use him but I thought...

    My new metal steel garage

Looks great. If you ever make it up to Tampa I have several hollow metal doors 4' x 7' x 1 3/4" that would make great work bench tops. They're free. I got a few wooden ones too.

Anyone used VCT tiles as a sort of baseboard?

You'll have to keep the joints vertical and the bottom joint will be rough unless you floor is 100% flat which it is not. I'd paint it.

    Basic workbench

I have some 7' x 4' x 1- 3/4" solid core wood doors, with red oak skins. Got them from work. I renovate hospitals. These doors are HEAVY and great for work bench tops. Every project I do we throw some away, what a shame. But I can't find people to give them to when I get them.

Is there some trick to using these (HF) wheel dollies?

They work great if you don't put the car on them. Just like most **** from HF, they perform great when not used.

    Help Me Get My Variance

Reduce the size of the driveway to get to required impervious amount. You can alway come back and add a strip of concrete at a later date. I think you're going to lose the battle on the setback. You need let it go. Put these three items in priority and see which one is a gotta have. They...

    floor drain question

I'm a contractor and I built a warehouse once and the owner wanted 1 floor drain. According to local codes we had to put in a two compartment, PRECAST CONCRETE oil/water seperator with related piping. It wasn't an itemized price but the thing cost +/- $15,000 by the time we were done. Between...

You'll have to find a real drywall supplier, not HD to get the 1/2" ceiling boards. Try the yellow pages.

    tearing up old slabs

Take a sledge hammer and see if you can break off a corner of the slab. If it was just a shed slab I doubt it is very thick. Also try to dig a little dirt out from under it on the side and than wack it with the sledge. It should break right off.

Going to pour garage floor soon....need advice!!

IMHO, I would go flat. It doesn't rain inside your shop and any spills you will clean up before it can run out the door, so why pitch it.
