Installing new cords on power tools

Here is an update: I replaced cords on five tools this weekend. All were pretty simple. You remove the screws, handle splits in two pieces. My Mikita miter saw was the only problem. I couldn't pull the replacement cord thru that piece of rubber reinforcement that is at the handle. You know the...

Installing new cords on power tools

Dave I was thinking of this. Short cords right at the handle. Makes pluging/unpluging faster/easier too.

    Jerry Seinfeld's garage

At least his money is going for a good cause: this cars. He's not out trying to save the world from itself. Tom Cruise has a P51 Mustang. (and a mental problem)

Unless there is a true concrete sealer on the floor, the mop and glo will just absorb into the concrete. You will be moppin' but you won't be gloin'.

Installing new cords on power tools

I have several power tools (jig saw, sawzall, circlar saw, mini-grinder, power miter saw, etc) that need new cords installed. The outside wire covers are are all split and cracked and I keep taping them up. I think the suns rays have eaten thru rubber. The cost to have this done at a service...

    Floor jacks

When I took my cheap Costco jack to a shop for a rebuild I was told that I'd be sending the same amount on the rebuild as I would if I just bought another cheap one. The Owner of the shop said the big differeance in the cheap one and the quality one is the the seals and the polishing of the...

    dumpster diving

I work for a construction company as a senior project manager on major hospital projects. You would just CRY at the stuff that gets thrown away during a hospital renovation. I could sell stuff on eBay if I just had a place to store it all. Stainless steel cabinets, tables, plastic storeage...

    Rolling Equipment vs Fixed

I understand your point(s) of view. Maybe because my shop is a large two car garage, I don't have many options when it comes to moving things around. And I don't have the need to move the tools to my work as some do. I primarily did it to be able to clean and sweep eaiser. No need to move...

    Rolling Equipment vs Fixed

I recently changed a couple of my cabinets from rolling types (casters). My original thoughts were that if they could roll I could move them at any time to clean or get something behind them and rearrange them if needed. But now I've put them on a base. Reasons being, 1) If they are on a base...

    How to store drill bits?

Bits are a problem to store because everyone has several of each size. I must have 6 1/4" bits. I would need 6 holders but, than all holes would not be filled. I'm thinking of making my own by drilling holes in a block of plastic or aliuminum than I can have several holes grouped together for my...

    Tool carts

I picked up a broken paient bed table from the hosptial where I work. It had a broken wheel, no big deal but they don't repair they just throw out and replace. This is the type that looks like a "C" and the base rolls under your bed and the table is above the bed. It has a cylinder in it and...

    Socket Organization

Why not make your own Hanson type holders out of wood dowels. Than you arrange them as you need to and lable as you need. I still don't like how tall they are for deep sockets. Can't fit into my drawers.
