    Jeepskate's Joint

Electrican came by Saturday afternoon and replace d the split bolt with a crimp. I brought the Scrambler home and backed the trailer in. Saving up my pennies for the heating components and insulation. Had no power in most of the warehouse last week, so I couldn't see to dig out the pallet...

    Wiring recepticals

You might want to do a cost comparison between the additional wire to run from one receptacle to the next versus your proposed setup. You'll need to buy 4 boxes & covers, connectors, wire nuts, and spend the extra time cutting, stripping & connecting the wires inside the boxes. I wouldn't think...

    Jeepskate's Joint

*Finally* got the replacement socket & bulbs from the Ebay guy and all of the metal haildes are up & working. Over the holiday break I put the CJ-7 inside, staged the Scrambler near a door at work so that I can load it on the trailer to bring home, unloaded all of the skids to clear the floor...

    Fridge tripping GFCI?

According to my electrician, yes. However you have to put in a single receptacle, not a duplex, so that nothing else can be plugged in. He did this with the circuit for the air compressor in my shop and I passed inspection last week.

    Crimping ground wires?

Thanks...I'm aware that it's not code at this point based upon the previous posts and it will be corrected. Good point about the accessability; I'll be sure to put in an access panel when I finish the walls if I don't run new ground wires.

    Crimping ground wires?

I think I'll go for the crimp since that's what the inspector indicated and the cadweld doesn't seem like such a 'hot' idea for doing right next to a 2x4 wooden purlin. Alternately, I can just dig back down to the ground rods and run two new wires back to the panel. That may actually be my...

    Crimping ground wires?

Yes, it's a pole building; wooden frame, steel siding. Thanks for the info, guys. I was trying to avoid calling the electrician since it'll take him longer to drive out here than to crimp it, but I guess he's just going to have to make the trip.

Can I get a light like a doctor uses?

Nothing in stock right now, just some parts & pieces, but I asked him to keep an eye out for complete ones and let me know when he has any.

    Crimping ground wires?

Had my final inspection yesterday and passed, but the inspector made a note that he wants an 'irreversible crimp' installed on the ground wires to my panel. Here's the situation: I have 200A service in a steel sided post-frame building which required 3 grounds...two from the panel (one of which...

Can I get a light like a doctor uses?

Let me check with my boss and see if he has anything on hand. He part owns the e-recycling company that I work for and wholly owns a medical equipment recycling company, so there may be something kicking around over at his building.

    Jeepskate's Joint

Woohoo!! Passed my final inspections with just one minor hiccup...inspector wants me to replace a split lug that bolts 3 ground wires together with an 'irreversable crimp' (like anybody would go and unbolt the darn ground wires which will be covered up once I finish the interior...oh well)...

    Jeepskate's Joint

Night shot with the outdoor dusk/dawn flourescents on: Three of the five 400 watt metal halides installed. Number 5 is in the basement and I converted it with a multi-tap setup last night. Should have the replacement bulbs & socket from the Ebay guy this week...spoke with him last Tuesday and...

    Jeepskate's Joint

Darn...almost had power today but the ground was too soft for the utility truck and the engineer didn't have a tall enough ladder with him. He said that he'd be back tomorrow with a taller ladder and a helper (read: younger guy to scurry up & down the ladder).

Craftsman Style Garage Project, 28X32 with apartment

Got ya' Cool...I'll look for those. I'm a big fan of the classic 4-square farmhouses but couldn't get my wife into one (didn't want to do the renovations). Ended up with a faux Cape Cod with some Craftsman hints. Planning to add a few more details. Can't wait to see the details.

Craftsman Style Garage Project, 28X32 with apartment

Looks good, but for Craftsman I'd add more architectural details that fit with the style. It's my favorite style, so I'm probably a little pickier about it than most folks. It basically looks like some of the old farmhouses with additions on them around here without those details. I'd add some...

    Rubberized undercoating as a 'buffer'

Thanks krooser, that's good to know about your experience with the foam after 15 years. I've seen the DIY kits and would go that route instead of the fiberglass batts if I had the cash. One of the owners of the company that I work for actually also owns a spray foam company, so I could get it...

    Rubberized undercoating as a 'buffer'

It would be difficult to pull the siding...the walls are 15' high and the site is sloped, so a man lift is required to do the job. I know that it would be better overall to have the OSB, but that just isn't going to happen. Sealing it up with foam is simple enough provided I can protect the...
