The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Thx, I'm happy with 'em. Ave less than $20 or thereabouts each, makes me happier with them. That Snap On is far out. Looks so deco it looks like it could be 1920's retro from the 1940's (design wise not Snap On toolbox age wise).

Man those little wing doors! Very cool. I'm not really a Snap On fan but a badass box is a badass box. Good find. Dunno if these qualify but I picked up 5 of them at auction. Parts cabinet I spose but they have drawers kinda like a box. Anywhichway, I dig 'em, thought y'all may have some out...

    8ft long Joint-abili-T Matched Edge Jointer $75

Stubbed my toe AGAIN, ANYONE want this thing? It's an 8ft long clamp basically. No need for cash, trades are welcomed. If it weren't for the huge long piece of metal it's attached to I'da already shoved this sumbitch in the fire. It's in great shape, just in the way.

    Vintage 5" Wilton Bullet Vise

5" Wilton boys, if you've been waiting, here's your deal. Cannot ship, apologies. In great shape. Already got it down to bare metal, cleaned and degreased it inside and out, lubed it up et voilá. I took a few thousandths of the top and sides of the jaws just to clean them up (not reflected in...

Hey Smitty, that thing is a beast. I may have a supplier for the 14" wheels if your needing or wanting some new. It's a weekly auction, local pickup here in StL. Let me know, so many big grinding wheels go unpurchased because well, who needs a 14" grinding wheel? (Besides you that is)

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Good eyes! So not my vise (mine is soaking) but similar, anyone know what these holes in the side of the swivel jaw are about? There are 3 blind holes, all offset of each other. On some pics of these vises they are filled some are open. 2 of mine were open and a lead like material came out of...

She's home y'all. Took the Doctors advice and found a pipe that was the right size, notched it and put a pipe clamp over that. Worked like a charm. Gotta say, that spring makes for smooth runnin' action. Love this thing. Thx e'rbody.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

That was my only thought but it's kinda tight in there. Was hoping someone knew some magic. Also when I do that the whole screw and meatball assembly wants to come out, making the hole impossible to hit. Guess I gotta set it against something that won't move then try the slotted tube.

Any of you boys that have redone an old Starrett, how in the name of all that seems holy does one pinch this spring enough to get the cotter pin back in that hole? See last pic, others are just vise ****.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Dang B, GREAT find. I still don't think I have all that taper pin outta there but I made this from a CM punch. Never gonna fight with that again (on this vise). I may even put a hole in this pin to hook a chain if need arises.
