    Can you ID this rear??

You said you can not find any numbers. Can you read anything in the tag on the lower right bolt on the cover? The number stamping is usually on the top of the tube, I don't remember if on the right or left. They could be cover in paint. Just remove the paint on top of the tubes centered...

Where to start with building garage

Its been my experience that people love to talk about what they are building. I would ride around and if you see someone putting up something new and if you like what you see, just stop and ask. After a while you will have a list of builders to consider. Brwbier

Your thoughts on these framing ideas please

If you get the roofing question sorted out I like the plan on the right. When you come home and its snowing or raining and pull into the garage there will be room for the passenger side doors to open. Brwbier

We don't need no stinkin' laser levels

That is actually better than a laser level. I used the same type of level during a remodel to make sure all the windows in several rooms were the same. I don't think a laser could do that. And the cost is almost nil.

Has anyone tried a wood floor? I will never weld, so that is not a concern. I'm thinking like an old time wood workers shop with a place to park a car. If its a bad idea just let me know, but dont just say its stupid without a reason, please. Brwbier

Can you do polished concrete as a DIY project? Even if not fully polished, can you rent the machine to do it? I wouldn't expect it to turn out as if a professional did it but I would like to try . brwbier

    Raise The roof (ceiling technically)

Why go to all the expense of an engineer or architect. Just tear the roof off leaving the front and back walls and either stick frame a new roof or buy vaulted trusses or attic trusses to fit your need. Brwbier

    Used truck wisdom

There are many fine used trucks to be found almost anywhere. The trick is to know how to look at them. If they have it warmed up when you get there, walk away. Look under the truck, is it leaking anything? A little is OK, a lot, walk away. Is it too clean under the hood for the mileage...

Unless you are concerned about the looks, I would just run surface mounted wiring channels. Easy to do, easy to modify in the future if you find the need. Brwbier

    Garage Door Spring Help

Their are two kinds of torsion springs. One is called easy set and is adjusted with a drill motor. Not a problem for most anyone. The other uses two bars to wind the spring, not really a difficult project but you have to be very carful and the bars for turning have to be the right size and...
