I want to mount a doorbell camera but my existing doorbell is attached to a side wall with a horizontal wall plate (see pic)

I did a 3d printed wedge for my Geeni. Pla, 30%, white to match my trim. 2 years no problem. Making into a junction box cover would be trivial. If you wanna get fancy print a TPU gasket. Or just use dielectric grease.

Side-exiting natural draft hanging furnace, thermal switch keeps tripping

    Lowering the furnace worked. Thanks.

    Explosion-Proof Exhaust Fan

The purpose-built solution not withstanding, I'd look at hot-water heater vent blowers. They'd be explosion proof. Just need to check the CFM available and perhaps use more than one. And yes you need good filters down low for the intake side too.

Side-exiting natural draft hanging furnace, thermal switch keeps tripping

Background; Personal 30x40 workshop w/6" insulation, sliding 12x12 barn door thats not well sealed, 13' ceilings, shallow pitch roof. Metal siding inside and out. I grabbed a functional take-out hanging furnace from a garage sale thats 80k BTU, 80% eff, pilot and slung it up 2' from my...

120v winch as a gantry crane - how to wire a controller?

I understand it. Are they hoists? No. Will it work? Yes. I've been using this one in this condition (with a new cable installed by me before I fitted it) to pull this press out, lift in a heavy furnace, and this afternoon to lift out a tractor implement. I never get under it. I lift, move...

120v winch as a gantry crane - how to wire a controller?

So switch to something like this: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/314676785465 Or go used? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1458064015045661? Are these "winch style" cranes like this one also not supposed to be used as a hoist? Or are they significantly different from mine? I know mine was...

120v winch as a gantry crane - how to wire a controller?

I was given a 120v 2000lb winch connected to a I-beam trolley from a buddy. He found it in a store he's leased, tells me it was used to lift product from the ground floor up a 12' mezzanine where it could be stored. It's now mounted on the I-beam in my hobby shop and I need to control this...

    12V electric motor advice needed

Those magnets need to go back in in their exact place so the armature winding produce magnetic fields in the correct orientation. I tried to recover a transfer case motor that the magnets detached. They were slightly off and the motor became very weak. Rotating the housing slightly restored...

Contractor undersized mini split in garage, trying to figure out solutions

Agreed. Our lunch room at work (flat roof, similar layout to OP) has a 12k window unit and about 800 sq ft. Old building, limited AC, and the window unit can struggle on the hottest days. But if we close the door upstairs it can drop from high 70's to low 70's in a few hours. Put a door on...

    Honda odyssey a/c

1.5lbs is the correct full capacity for that van. Are you sure both fans are kicking on when the compressor engages? It's still possible the compressor itself is slipping or for another reason not moving sufficient refrigerant volume at idle. Many people complain their car "gets warm at...

A large lathe and mill on one circuit?

This is the actual condition I'm asking about right now. I have NM-b #6 in the wall there currently on a 40A breaker. I don't use the 6-50 and want to change it to a sub panel unless someone else has a better idea. Although I'm happy we're discussing the proper useages of a receptacle I'm still...

A large lathe and mill on one circuit?

The wiring is fine. It's 6-3 in my walls to 6-50s. It's much larger than the wire that fed the lathe in it's old home. I have to check but I believe the lathe was on a 30A breaker. Unless you meant the existing plug would not (safely) power the lathe. I'd agree and I'm hoping Wylie will...

A large lathe and mill on one circuit?

Yeah the runs were terminated with 6-50's because he was welding in there. There's multiple drops as illustrated including a dedicated one for electric heat in that future cave room (which is very heavily insulated, was used for mixing and curing epoxies where temperatures were critical)...

    BOX FOR OVERHEAD DOOR BUTTON

This would be a pretty easy 3D print project. Honestly I'd be looking at automating the lock mechanism. If you have some budget to work with I used the Liftmaster 8500W and it's a beautiful solution. Auto deadbolt, battery backup, wifi enabled if you want it to be. And it comes with one remote.

A large lathe and mill on one circuit?

I'm bringing home a large 240v 5HP Willson lathe from a friend next week. My shop has a 6/3 run from the panel to a 6-50 outlet that's about 10' away, and I plan for a knee mill in the future that'll be 5' on the other side of this current outlet. What's the best way to install these two to...

Protection for large wire in garage behind drywall

Buddy did this when he had his house upgraded to 400A service. He has multiple EVs and his in-laws too so he has 3 chargers. Anticipating changes he also left himself access to below the new main. The original panel is now a sub and still feeds the whole house.

Protection for large wire in garage behind drywall

Did they use TECK or other armored cable from the outdoor ATS to the panel? Or is it in conduit?

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I'd like to see this with end-user pictures. I've thought of doing the same when I finish my basement for a TV room.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Picked up a used shop furnace and got to hanging it yesterday. Today was redoing the gas lines. Tomorrow is electrical. I'm waiting on my gas guy to come double check my lines & size the exhaust. Sent him pictures and he said "That looks like the stuff I charge a lot to do." :)
