S.E. Michigan - companies to lift garage and pour new slab?

Well, I agreed with you when I started the project, but the quotes to build new are cost prohibitive for me at this time. Plus by salvaging it, I can break it into smaller projects that I can tackle over time when the budget allows.

S.E. Michigan - companies to lift garage and pour new slab?

Thanks again for all the good insight from everyone. I have been in contact with a few people with good suggestions on how to do it myself, but the reality is that I think I want to leave the lifting to someone more experienced. The process 'sounds' easy enough in discussion, but I think I'd...

S.E. Michigan - companies to lift garage and pour new slab?

Ok, I can take some pics. The roofing needs to be done at some point, its one layer I think. However due to budget constraints, Im not sure if the roof is in the budget this year or not. It all depends on how much it costs to lift and pour.

S.E. Michigan - companies to lift garage and pour new slab?

Thanks for all the info so far. I will definitely document the project once it gets kicked off. :) The garage is currently sort-of finished inside, but the plan is to gut it and start over. So I plan to pull everything down before the 'lift'. The current slab is below grade, so that has...

S.E. Michigan - companies to lift garage and pour new slab?

Hey all- Anyone know of a company in Southeast Michigan that will lift an existing garage and pour a new slab? I have a bunch of concrete guys I could use for the slab work, but none that fee particularly comfortable lifting the garage to do so. The garage is 22x26 stick built BTW. Thanks for...

    Opaque window film

I thought the same thing... I was thoroughly impressed... I really had almost NO expectations for the spray, but I figured it was cheap and easy, so Id try it... It worked so well, Im almost trying to find more stuff to spray... LOL..

    tyvek for ceiling?

nice! you could probably hit that with a heatgun and shrink it to make it super smooth! (not really sure how that particular stuff works, just guessing) That would be amazing... (if shrinking it worked..) thanks for the idea!

    mid depth sockets?

SCORE! I just won an ebay auction for a SO 6pt semi-deep set, 8-12, 14-19... $73 shipped. Dunno' if its missing the 13mm, or if the set didnt include one in the first place. But either way, Im happy. Just one of those sets Ive needed for a while but never took the time to track a set down...

    Auto ignite replacement for furnace?

Thanks again for all the help... I think I'll just keep using the valve for now, since its almost summer anyway... Then re-examine my needs (and my wallet) come fall... I was hoping to upgrade to a ceiling mounted furnace in the future anyway, so I might just hold off and go that route... I...

    Auto ignite replacement for furnace?

Rick. That's the same site I saw. Ouch. I guess that lighting it is a bit annoying, but not $300 annoying. :) Matt. I wasn't sure how much a pilot light actually consumes. I have a switch already wired in, which I use also, I just never could figure the draw of a pilot.

    Auto ignite replacement for furnace?

Whoa. Those retrofit kits are a pretty penny... worth more than the furnace... I guess I'll just keep manually lighting it... yikes.. My main concern for doing this was, that I was worried that I would wear out the gas valve, but at only a few bucks for one of those, I'll take my...

    Auto ignite replacement for furnace?

great info.. I'll google a bit... thanks so much! I can wait on the fan, much more interested in the pilot at this point... Since I am just learning about furnaces.. How does the furnace's electric gas valve know when the 'added' spark ignition fires? So it can turn on the gas? Or do I...

snap on flex ratchet question (loose)

well, I decided to have a look at it today.. and sure enough, there is a spring washer in there.. So I gave it a little 'tweak' and put it back together and it has tightened up a bit, but the washer was pretty worn, so I think I'll try it as is, then maybe look into either sending it back, or...
