    My new building.

I sat down with a pad and pencil, it actually took them 34 man hours to complete it. A few updates, the floor has been poured, waiting on the apron to be poured. I have started a few things inside, hopefully, I will get the ceiling scabbed out so I can start wiring and insulating. I may...

    Quality wire stripper

Try this link. I have never bought from this company before. I normally buy my tools from the local supply house. Both strippers I use are on this page. I have had the Ideal T-Strippers, they are not very ergonomic in my opinion. I have really big hands (I can not buy gloves, none fit)...

    Wire Guage

Ron, Look for FLA (full load amps), it should be on your nameplate. This is what you should be sizing your wire and breaker off of. If you don't want to do the math or don't have the books, post back and Charles or Gummi or I or someone will let you know what you need.

    Ceiling Fan Wiring/Electrical Question

FYI, dimmers can and will get hot. Basically, you have a big resistor you are running the load through. I would go out and buy a 15a Leviton or Lutron. They are not that expensive. I have seen those cheap switches melt wallplates right off the wall. Those wire nuts are almost 2 1/2 times...

    Emergency/exit lighting

The exit signs with the LED's are much better. As far as emergency lighting, you are probably better off going to your local electrical supply house instead of the big box store. The last time I bought them they were around $20 - $30 each. Before you make a big investment in them, you may...

    Ceiling Fan Wiring/Electrical Question

I agree with Charles. More than likely, your switch is only rated for one fan. That is probably why each fan came with its own switch.

    Question for the woodworkers.

I think I will be going with the Kreg pocket hole jig setup. It is around $139, if anyone knows of a cheaper place to get it let me know. I took another look at that nailer set from Lowes. Below is what I found out. Framing Nailer - uses 31 to 34 degree, .113 to .131, Clipped Head Framing...

The price on OSB is getting cheaper by the day. I am going to use that on my ceiling and walls.

    working copper

The black iron vs. copper pipe fight could go on forever. Personally, I prefer copper because I don't have to worry about rust in my lines. Black iron does have its benefits though. Honestly, there is nothing wrong with either of them. If you do a search on this site, you will find many...

    working copper

Why not? It is the next best thing to black iron. Some would even argue it is better than black iron because it does not rust.

    Question for the woodworkers.

My wife has been bugging me about telling her something I want for Christmas. I want them to have a good Christmas, that's it. However, she is persistent. I have been looking at adding a few new items and was wondering if anyone had any experience with these. Links are below. Adjustable...

The best 3/8" cordless Drill for under $150 ?

I bought my Dad a kit for his camper a few years back. It was the Ryobi, bought it at Lowes, seems to me it was right around $150. It came with drill/driver, sawzall and flashlight. Nice kit for what he does with it.

    Need a Worklight...

I agree with bmw. I have had this Craftsman light forever. If it dies, I will go buy another one. This one is on a reel, I prefer that over the corded model. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?cat=Electrical+Shop&pid=03483912000&vertical=TOOL&subcat=Work+Lights&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes

Splicing into a 240 Volt Circuit...?

It's not about being cautious. There is an electrical code that is put out, for the safety of people. Most people have some respect for this code. What he wants to do is against code, period. As for you putting all 50A 220v receptacles in your garage, that is up to you. However, if...

    drywall ceiling help!!!!!!

I just had my 30' x 40' built. I have 2x6 wooden trusses that span 30'. I spoke with the engineer and told him that I would be studding out the ceiling and installing either drywall or OSB (at this point probably OSB). I was told I would not have any problems. If possible you may want to...
