    Curious on student pricing?

im not curious. note the question mark in the thread title. it assumes i am asking you, the reader, if you are curious. what i wanted to accomplish with making this thread was to show the disparity between student and regular pricing. no one should be making any assumptions as to how i feel...

    Curious on student pricing?

check these out. after some googling today, i came across this. the sad part is, even with the student pricing, the mfgs are still making money. http://www.ncktc.edu/programs/beloit/auto/files/MacTools.pdf http://www.ncktc.edu/programs/beloit/auto/files/SnapOn.pdf

    Mac prybar COO anyone?

its difficult to explain my situation, but these bars would most likely get used in heavy duty situations. something like my snow plow and truck. my landlord owns a diesel shop down the road from me, so im often in situations where his equipment (he has like 20 lull's if you know what those are)...

    Mac prybar COO anyone?

i figured they were a decent deal. i would also like to add i am not a mechanic. just a diyer. but not your average diyer. i do everything on my car and others vehicles, including building my own engine. in fact, these prybars wouldve come in so handy last monday. i needed to loosen my subframe...

    Big Snap On wrenches

I personally fancy the industrial finish. I got a set of midlength metrics in chrome I'd easily trade for industrial finish.

    Prescription Safety Glasses

The paper mill I worked at bought me a pair of rx safety glasses. They are basically street glasses with safety glass and side shields. I made sure to pick out a pair that looked good without the shields in case I ever wanted to use them everyday. And since the paper mill blew up and I lost my...

    No BS screwdriver guide

i was hoping someone would recognize it! sorry for the thread jack, but i've got a good tip for ya. ive had those pinch bolts really stuck in there. a five pound sledge couldnt even get one out. so i went down to my local hardware hank and pick up the same bolts in stainless. $15 for two metric...

    No BS screwdriver guide

i should add that i think the screwdriver was tip was positioned perfectly so that the dark area of the tip was the only partin contact while prying. if i jammed it in there further, who knows. maybe it wouldnt have snapped

    No BS screwdriver guide

it snapped with relatively little force. i was using it to pry apart a clamp that hold a ball joint in on the upper control arms in my car. ill find a picture. and it was just the tip that broke off. was kinda pissed but i realized this is why i bought warrantiable products. either way, i...

    No BS screwdriver guide

i bought as per recommendations from this website. the tip on the second largest flat blade snapped off the first time i used it. yeah, i was using it improperly as a prying device, but who doesnt?

    MAC Edge Sockets

i got the deep 10-19 plus 21mm 1/2 drive set. dont use them much as im just a diyer, but they seem of average quality to me. my buddy (a diesel mechanic) has the chrome deep 3/8mm set and i use them all the time. i think the chrome ones are qulaity than my impacts. as far as the demo unit goes...

    MAC TOOLS Dealer video

agreed. the only thing mac, snap on, matco, or any business, franchise or not, cares about is making money. that would be like mc donalds telling there franchisee "you are only allowed to sell to 100 customers a day." that makes no sense. the more they sell, the more they make, not to mention...

    Apprenticeship ratchets

could be a lot of things. availability, prestige, peer influence... personally, i love mac knuckle saver wrenches. dont have a set yet, but am always looking. i like snap on allen bits and bought a set. personally, i just love the matco 88's. maybe op needs to try out some friends' tools and...

    Apprenticeship ratchets

i know plenty of mechanics and they all use matco 88's. after i've used them, i drop the money for them even though im just a diyer and they only see use a few times a month. but as stated the armstrong maxx are the same thing, but i bought a matco 3/8 flex head green comfort handle when the...

Will carb cleaner damage a throttle body or should I use throttle body cleaner only?

actually, vw/audis can adapt the throttle on there own. try turning you key to the on position once. you'll hear a hum coming from the throttle. this is adapting itself. there is however another type of adaption which does require vagcom, but ive never had to do it that way. just turning the key...

Will carb cleaner damage a throttle body or should I use throttle body cleaner only?

no it wont damage anything. you could use brake clean too. as for the rtv, youd have to consult the repair book but i highly doubt it needs it especially since it is a naturally asporated motor. if it were me, i wouldnt use rtv. why run the risk of the motor sucking up extra bits of rtv?
