Who makes the best 1/2" impact Sockets

i got them in 1/2 drive deep 10-19mm plus 21 for $150 off the truck. they were technically a present so i could justify the expense. i havent used them much yet, but i do like them. however, no usa stamp on them, but they are beefy. id love to use them in a shop environment to test the...

    Tool List Critique/Recommendation?

probably need a 36mm 1/2 socket as well for axle nuts. i would also recommend a set of 3/8 drive allen sockets. taking them out with a allen key *****. and if its in there hard, youll strip out 5 or 6mm allens no probelm. you can put a 3/8 drive allen on an impact and it will help a ton. as for...

Snap-On rebranded Irwin / Triumph Thunderbits Warranty?

My mac guy tried selling me warrantied drill bits. I passed cause I don't need them but he said if any break ever, you get a new one free. There was a promo too saving a bunch if you traded in an old set of bits

Menards has more U.S. tools than Sears!

fact. they push their tool shop junk pretty hard. something like 20 bucks for an electric grinder. the stuff is just junk. with that said, plenty of decent deals on home stuff like shingles and boards. most people i know got there before home depot. with that said, our home town stop is mills...

Please school me on air tools

if you havent had need for air tools, you probably wont need them ever. for working on cars, impacts are awesome, as are air hammers, straight and 90 degree die grinders, maybe a d/a sander. i wont ever buy an air ratchet because i personally think they are worthless, but impacts ae definately...

Wright Wrench Set, almost new 3/8-3/4

i figured i'd throw this up incase there are any wright collectors. i'll start with the bad parts- missing 3/8's wrench pouch has typical wear from sitting in a drawer goods- these apear to be unused. i cant see any obvious wear marks. no engravings. dad gave them to me after he got laid...

NOS Herbrand 11 piece triple square/xzn socket set on Ebay

Personally I bought the short mac triple square set on promo for $50. I'm willing to bet those would go bad. I used a snap on set just like those in polydrive and broke the first time. I think a dedicated set would be better than one socket and a bunch of bits in any brand. Would application do...

ah yes, another 6pt vs 12pt

i think it breaks down to torque. a 6pt fastner that needs a lot of torque will require a 6pt socket so it doesnt get rounded. if it is a relatively small amount of torque, a 12pt will work. if you know a 6pt fastner is torqued to over 200 ft/lbs, would you grab a 1/2 breaker bar with a 12pt...

    anyone blue their tools?

Thanks for the tip. I should've mentioned that I wiped them down with the oil wipe that was included with the kit. Anything else I can do?

    anyone blue their tools?

The bits actually had no finish to them. They were just mild steel. I was going to put oil on them but I liked this idea better. Plus I already had a 20 dollar gun blueing kit at home. I just followed the directions on that. Turned out nice. But like I said we will see how long it lasts
