What are these supports?

I am referring to the angled supports next to the fellow near the ceiling. I want to tin and insulate the ceiling and insulate and finish the walls. How can this be made to look nice with these angles supports there, and why don't I see these on anyone else's shed? [/IMG]

Working with steel liner for the ceiling

Correct me if I'm wrong, but after drawing this out, each 18' section of steel would only be attached by 8 screws. Probably not a good idea. Disregard that last statement. I forgot to count the screws on each joist. This just may work.

Working with steel liner for the ceiling

There you go, that's why I love this site. Could I get by with Joists every 6' between the trusses that are 8' OC, If I ran the steel the short way (36' direction)?

Working with steel liner for the ceiling

I'm assuming you all are talking about a scissor lift that is on wheels and movable? Like a Genie lift?

Working with steel liner for the ceiling

Interesting!! So make a grid out of metal studs. Less weight, but slightly higher cost. I'll add one thing that I left out on purpose to get ideas and that is the fact that I have a ton of 2"x4"'s available that the tin pallets came on, so I've already paid for them and to return them would...

Working with steel liner for the ceiling

My shed has trusses 8' on center (OC), I am thinking hanging 2"x4"'s spaced every 3' for nailers using joist hangers. My shed is 36' x 56' x 14' high. A couple of questions: 1). Are 16' pieces of liner too much to handle easily or should I order 84- 8' pieces? 2). Whatever I buy, should I add...

How much weight will my trusses hold for installing ceiling and insulation

I just got off the phone with Menard's. They said they are rated to span 9' (mine are 8') with 3' OC joists and will hold insulation on top of that. I have also read others that have the 8' span and they say they have been that way for many years with no issues. It does surprise me a bit.:fingersx:

How much weight will my trusses hold for installing ceiling and insulation

I think I will go with 2" x4" joist hangers. If I run them 4' apart, will that be sufficient to hold the tin and insulation?

Suggestions on heating my pole shed

I'd be curious to hear from anyone what it costs them to heat a shed/garage using in floor radiant heat. What temp they keep it at when not using the building. How the building is insulated. How long it takes to bring the temp up to the desired temp. BTU output of the system Any other relevant...

How much weight will my trusses hold for installing ceiling and insulation

How much weight will my trusses hold for installing ceiling and insulation

Just got off the chat with them. Here is what I got: Since I am at 8' OC, I have a 5 DLBC (Dead load) which means: these trusses are designed for 40 lbs./lineal foot which would be 5 lbs./sf. The live load does factor in the calculations. If I were to space these same trusses at 7' OC and only...

How much weight will my trusses hold for installing ceiling and insulation

The only way to contact them is through an on-line message. We'll see how long it takes for a reply and I'll let you know. It sure looks like the dead load and OC spacing is related to LLTC. Thanks for your responses!!

How much weight will my trusses hold for installing ceiling and insulation

If you look at the highlighted area in my picture, at 8' OC, I see 5 lbs. dead load (DLBC). Is this of any help to me?
