Don, glad to see you back. Shop looks great, so does the truck. Just bought a twin of it for my son. I would be interested in hearing the details of what type of lift you used, and what size tires you went with. Greatful for any help you can give me, if you don't want to clutter up your thread...

    Running out of hot water

Had an early day yesterday. So I had a chance to flush my boiler and hot water heater. Not much sediment at all. I have always used boiler antifreeze and filter the incoming water. I hope to be home early again today, so I can run a test to see if I run out of hot water. I will post my results...

    Running out of hot water

Been out of town last couple of days and my boss is in town this week so I won't much time to spend on fixing this issue. When I have time. ( Hopefully Thursday ) I plan to flush out the boiler and the water heater, and check out the dip tube. I will keep you all posted as to how this turns out...

    Running out of hot water

Ya it's kind of crazy. Even now most of the time we have plenty of hot water. Every once and a while we will run out of hot water. For 15 years it has worked great. I sure we will figure it out.

    Running out of hot water

Everything seem fine on 1st test, but the 2nd time that I did the test tempeture started to drop off after only 5 minutes of running the water and by 15 minutes tempeture was well below 100 degrees. After 2 minutes of running water the boiler was running. Like you said I should be able to pull...

    Running out of hot water

I am sorry for the confusion. I estimated 8 gal. per min. With both showers and the kitchen sink running. First test that I ran seemed acceceptable. Ran 8gal. per min. For 15 minutes and still had 120 degree water at the kitchen sink.(easiest place to measure it). Second test water temp started...

    Running out of hot water

Even though I ran out of hot water this time. Full recovery was the same at 25 minutes. This time the boiler was only heating the hot water as both of my floor zones were satisfied.

    Running out of hot water

I just ran the test again to see if my boiler runs steady or cycles during recovery or not. It does cycle. The results this time weren't as good. The heater called for boiler water after 2 minutes, but tempeture started to drop off after 6 minutes of running approximately 8 gal. Per min. After...

    Running out of hot water

I didn't pay attention to see if the boiler cycled as the water heater was recovering. I know that my boiler will cycle when my floor heat is running, but that only injects a little 180 degree water into the zone. Should the boiler stay running the whole time the water heater is recovering...

    Running out of hot water

My heater is a Weil-McLain Gold Plus 80. Before this I didn't think it was possible to run it out of hot water. I ran this test. Turned on both showers and the kitchen sink full hot for 15 minutes (approx. 8 gal. Per min.) after 15 minutes I measured water tempeture at the kitchen sink and I...

    Running out of hot water

We use a cast iron boiler with a indirect fired water heater. In the 15 years we have lived in our house we have never had a problem no matter how much hot water we used. We have run out 3 or 4 times in the last month. I don't think we are using anymore. It seams as if there is less available...
