That would be cool. However, I am now out of $ and I need to get this room going. I will have to work with what I have (for right now.) I suppose you come back ahd raise the floor some to have a downdraft type of operation. Thanks.

    Lift Group Buy

Tom Phillips is my friend that worked for Rotary Lift (a division of Dover Elevator). He has emailed his contacts at Rotary re this Garage Journal thread. He feels Rotary will be interested if there is enough interest here. Rotary lifts are the biggest selling brand in the World. They are made...

I have a room in my new garage additon (31x54) that is 14'x25'. I plan to do a small amount of spray painting in here. I am going to buy a non-spark exhaust fan and will have the air source on one end of the room and the exhaust on the other. The room is 12' tall. Is there some formular as...

    Lift Group Buy

My good friend was previously head of marketing for Rotary Lifts. He got me a real deal on a lift. He was responsible for putting Rotary in many Wal Mart stores and Ford Motor Co. He is retired now. I am sure that he could approch Rotary if there was enough interest. Advise. Mike

    Detached Garage Resale Value

I built this house 27 years ago. It was in the 'country' then although it was in what then was a small town (Madison, Ms). The population then was probably about 2000. Now it is about 23500. My house is on a 3 acre lot and the house is about 3k'. I just added a 1770' garage addition. I really...

fluorescent light question, cheap v. more $$

I bought 25 4' Lithonia fixtures from a local commercial contractor electrical wholesaler. I think they were about $65 each. They really light that place up (31x54). It is the same old deal-you generally get what you pay for.

    "GloPo Speedshop" pics(just my garage)

Mike: That is very nice. That ceiling looks awesome. Those little Broncos are going to start going up in value one of these days (if they already have not). We use to take one of these to a hunting camp I have. It had two gas tanks and needed both of them. That little dude would go through the mud.

    Fabricating Garage Doors

Some pictures of these doors are on the "Garage Gallery" section of this site under a heading "Garage Construction-Start To Finish-Pics". You can see them there. I have spent the last day and a half trying to seal around these doors. I bought some door insulating material (rubber) from HD and am...

New to site, my shop pics

Steve: How wide is the longer set of stairs going up to your second floor? I have roof trusses set on 24" centers and am going to have to use that much space as an access hole to get up. The stairs will have to be no wider than 24". Your's looks to be not real wide but perhaps you had another...

    Plastic Pegboard Standoffs

Are 'standards' the metal rods that you can hang the shelves from? Did you have to drill holes in them to run screws through or were the existing holes in the standards big enough for the screws? That sounds like a good idea. I know the 1x2's will work but you are going to lose some holes-right...

    Sealing Swing Open Doors

RonBou: Those look like what I need. I am going to get one to try out before buying the four 10 footers that I need for the opennings. Thanks for the tip. Mike

    Sealing Swing Open Doors

I have started on this process. I bought some 1x2's at Lowes and will nail them to the jam so that the door presses lightly against the 1x2 when closed. I bought some white extruded, nail-on insulation (comes in a roll) that should seal the point where door meets 1x2. This little job is going...

    Installing my 2 post lift

I bought a Rotary 2 post lift and then paid a local company that does nothing but that type of installation work $481.50. When I am up under a car on that thing I feel like that was the best $ I ever spent.

    D/A With Vacuum

I bet that is true. i have pretty much destroyed my hearing anyway and have to use hearing protection in about everything I do. I might check into a system where the vacuum motor/canister is not in the same room. My new garage is nice enough that I hate to get body dust on every square inch of it.

    **** Blast Cabinet-Rocks!

PATOYOTA: Do you buy your media from TP or is there another source? Looks like the freight on that stuff is pretty tough. I am interested in ducting out through my back wall too. Your set up does not have the vacuum bag, right? I bought a material recycler and the vacuum motor upgrade. I can see...

    D/A With Vacuum

I am going to do a bit of body work in my garage addition. I recently went to a Akzo/Nobel (Sikkens/Lesanol Paints) school. They had the best of equipment. They had dual action sanders that had a vacuum attachment that sucked up most of the dust and grit produced. They had an expensive central...

    **** Blast Cabinet-Rocks!

I bought a ScatBlast bead blaster from TP Products (I might have some of those names not exactly right). I used the cabinet for the first time today and it is really neat. A hot rod buddy and I bought a 70 Chevelle SS and we were working on it this PM. I bead blasted all the bumper supports...

    Sealing Swing Open Doors

Pops and Chaingang: Go to the 'Garage Gallery' section on this site and scroll down to a title that says 'Garage Construction-Start To Finish (pics)'. That is my garage addition and has some photos of the carriage house type doors. I have more pictures of these doors that I need to post. Thanks...
