Chose cast iron villager 715 over americast Cambridge. Can I get some feedback?

As long as your tub ends up level, it's all good. I just dropped a Kohler cast iron tub into my bathroom - it sits on 4 feet (exclusively, they don't want you supporting it by the back flange). They recommend using metal shims for the feet so they don't sink in over time. I made sure the...

Anyone ever spray foal insulated their own pole barn?

Are you planning on doing 1" of foam and then adding fiberglass or something to get you up to a final R value?

Is there such thing as outdoor Cat 5 or Coax cable?

All underground conduit is assumed to have water in it, which is why you have to use conductors rated for wet locations when you're running power.

    insulation compression?

You can get R15 fiberglass insulation at some stores. Menard's has it here in St. Louis. It's probably 30%+ more than R13 - but still pretty cheap. Also, a 2x4 wall is 3.5" deep.

    First DIY black pipe job

Nice. What airport are they based out of? I'm on the dark side - I fly things with only one spinny part. But I've been up for a few hours with my uncle in R22/44s.

You are a brave man. Edit: Also, that's awesome. I love the computer/sensor setup.

    insulation in unheated garage soffits?

Err, I'm looking at the heel of the truss over the top plate - it's not a standard truss. It looks like an energy heel/raised heel. They might just be the standard design up North.

Are those raised heel trusses? I should have done that...

    insulation in unheated garage soffits?

Insulation doesn't belong in soffits. In fact, you should install baffles (something like Accuvent) in your rafter bays to keep insulation from sliding down into the soffit and blocking airflow when you insulate the ceiling.

Blown cellulose and metal ceiling - air barrier? BTU Calc?

From NAIMA: St. Louis is zone 4, so it's considered a warmer climate. If I shouldn't use plastic, how else can I stop air from coming through the gaps between metal sheets?

    Suggestions for a furnace Humidifier?

I just picked up the Aprilaire 400 from Amazon. It's drainless, meaning any water that it uses goes into the air. The higher models (600, 700) use a lot of excess water to keep the filter clean, but all of that just gets dumped down your drain. It's probably less maintenance, but I'd rather...

Blown cellulose and metal ceiling - air barrier? BTU Calc?

I've read (somewhere, I think in these forums) that a vapor barrier isn't recommended for something like a garage (part time heated) in my climate zone, St. Louis.

Blown cellulose and metal ceiling - air barrier? BTU Calc?

    1) I'm currently planning on putting up a metal ceiling in my garage (28' long scissor trusses with 6/12 on top and 3/12 on bottom) with blown cellulose on top. The garage will probably be heated/cooled on demand, but I've also thought about keeping it around 50 degrees until I use it during...

Bendpak or Challenger lift. Which would you pick?

The E10 isn't all US made like the more expensive Challengers. :(

Bendpak or Challenger lift. Which would you pick?

It was within a couple hundred dollars, I think.

Bendpak or Challenger lift. Which would you pick?

I went with the Challenger E10. It fit better in my fairly narrow garage and seemed more flexible.

It's 2 AM ... do you know where your garage door is?

I reprogrammed my opener last year, only to have the door opening and closing seemingly at will. It happened a few times before I realized my neighbor's door was also opening and closing at the same time. They must have hit their remote just as I was programming the opener.

Running multiple circuits through stud (50A and 20A, 6/2 and 12/2)

No, but I needed his signature. Inspector is always right and all that... I wasn't too happy to have to redo a couple branches.
