let's see your craftsman block grinders

I'd be all over it but I have to wait to see if my broken $20 grinder is going to work out.

let's see your craftsman block grinders

Ok I'm lining my Father In Law to pick it up for me. Thanks guys :) I've been searching for a grinder for awhile now with no luck. Really hope I can actually get it running, the shop needs one :(

Should I take the risk? I think I'll be able to get it for $20. It's a 1hp model. Here's what he said:

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Picked this up on Friday. It's a Wilton 950. It's missing the little T bar handles for tightening the swivel operation. The jaws also need to be replaced as they are pretty worn (no serrated teeth left really). I paid $75, not sure if that's a great deal, but I plan on keeping it anywho. I'd...

    Bench Grinder

Looking for a bench grinder, 3/4 or 1 hp. Ideally want a Baldor, but would consider other brands (Craftsman, Wissota, etc). Want something old and beefy. Having the pedestal would be great too, but not required. I think I'd like something near Madison, WI (within 2-3 hours) since I don't know...

    Baldor 1022W

This one is pretty far away from me anyways so I'm going to pass. But thanks for the info!

    Baldor 1022W

I was surprised. I think Baldor is highly regarded as a USA made overbuilt product. My assumption would have been they state 1 hp and you likely get 1.1 hp (or something like that). I really wanted a solid built to last USA model - even though it's probably overkill for what I need.

    Baldor 1022W

I'm not 100% confident in that figure, I found it online so I'm taking it with a grain of salt. Anyways, do you guys think this is a decent grinder? Guy is asking $500 OBO including what I think is an original stand. It has the basic shields not the nice heavy duty lighted ones. Looks to be in...

    Baldor 1022W

    Well I think it's 120V*5.4A = 648 Watts = 0.87 hp (assuming no losses).

    Baldor 1022W

Does anyone have experience with the 1022W? It's a 1hp, single phase, 1800 RPM, 10" grinder. I noticed the amp draw seems sort of low at 5.4/2.7A. I think the older version of this model has a higher amp draw (9.4A on 115V). Thanks, Greg

    Most Complete Wrench Set

Stuff on SK's site is usually twice as expensive as you can find it elsewhere. Quick internet search shows that set can be had for around $550-600. Still a lot of $$. Greg

    Harry Epstein's day 2018?

Really hope SK can release that 1/4" 90 tooth. Greg

    Advice on Ratchets

Snap on. Look on eBay or locally at a car part swap or something of the sort. I got brand new looking (might even have never been used) F80 for $45. It's the only way to go. Sockets could be something cheaper like used USA craftsman or new SK. Greg

Am I The Only One Who HATES LED Lights!?!?!?

I can attest to that. My company does a lot of consulting work for commercial buildings in the Chicago area (everything from small buildings to the big skyscrapers) and basically everything being built is going all LED. 10 years ago the price and technology may not have been there, but now, LED...

HF New Line of Daytona Floor Lifts

I'm going to buy either the HF Yellow (based on the info in this thread) or the NAPA 7916420. Are they constructed in the same manner? The NAPA warranty is 2 years compared to the HF 3 years.

    NAPA Floor Jack on Sale

Long shot here, but is this one USA made or assembled?

    Chain Saw Recommendation

I run a Stihl MS261. It's one of the pro saws. I like it, went with the pro line because I thought the build quality was better. Probably overkill, but for a tool I'll have forever it was worth the extra $.

    Walker J-122 Rebuild

Looks like someone else had or tried to take the tank nut off at one point with a pipe wrench. I just have to take the outer ring off with the two slots? At this point, since someone else already used a pipe wrench on it, should I just use a pipe wrench or can I damage things that way? There...
