    Tire Inflators Digital vs. Dial

I just bought one of the digital, just because it is easy to read at a glance. I paid $108 for a bluepoint, still less than a snap on analog, and just a few bucks more than cornwells analog.

Look with followed me home for $80

You ****, I still work out of the one my Dad bought new in '80 and would love another for the house. These are by far my favorite style boxes ever built. Great buy, the ones around me go for $400+ regularly.

    craftsman c3 impact drivers

I have the 1/4" driver, 3/8 and 1/2 impacts, and a drill, all used professionally in a shop for the last year. I keep threatening to upgrade to dewalt or milwaukee but the c3 is dependable and just won't quit. They are not the most powerful, but for the money they are great.

Most used SO tool you own?

My "10 on a stick." 10mm swivel ball extension. I've had mine about 10 years and could not live without it. I use it everyday, it gets in places that would otherwise require a wrench.

    What is this???

Reread the post and it is for sure a short finder. If you have a dead short you replace the fuse with the automatic resetting circuit breaker, and move the gauge along the affected circuit until the needle points straight at the harness, wire or component and voila there is your short. Can be...

    What is this???

Sounds somewhat like an old school short finder or ammeter, get some pics up and we will be of more help.

    Power probe III

Master kit is cool, but I bought just the pp3. You can use standard mm leads and accessories with it and not pay the premium for pp's gold plated ****.

    Power Probe PPSK Soldering kit

I have one, it leaks the gas out in less than a day. Started about six months after I got it and my matco dealer at the time (no longer in biz) never would do anyything to help me. It does work well, just wastes any fuel that is left in it.

    I'm stumped

Hyundai brake switches are notorious for this, I replace 5-6 a week at work (low volume rural Hyundai dealer.) The switch should be around $6-10 and takes about 5 minutes or less to replace. Good luck.

    Chrysler special dipstick tool?!?

I saw the tool in one of the tool truck flyers recently, I think it was either matco or cornwell, although any should be able to get it as iirc it was an OTC tool.

    Proto Gets it!

Agreed, Proto is very underappreciated. My dad has quite a bit of proto he bought when he owned his shop, but until the last year or so I had none. I love their wrenches, for my use it's either them or USA bluepoint as I prefer the matte finish on my wrenches (I do have some SO wrenches but...

Is there a special tool (or trick) for hood strut clips?

I use a pocket screwdriver to Roll the clip off and the just twist the strut off the ball stud.

Repairing my own 3/8" air hoses???

We have a crimper like the milton 1626(might be a Milton but not sure) at the shop, works well. They bought it napa and iirc they paid around $120 or for it. We also get all the ferrules and barbed fittings at napa, not a bad source if you want to get it local, although most of the auto parts...

    torque sticks

Working in a dealership on flat rate I use them daily. I do use a torque wrench on anything with aftermarket wheels, lug bolts, and full size trucks and suv's (I broke my 120 and my 135 was stolen years ago.)

    New tire machine at work

Don't get me wrong, I have only scratched like 2 or three wheels in 13 years and thousands of tires mounted (and those were when I was fairly green) but all it takes is one slip or distraction to eff something up. All I'm saying is they have their place.

    New tire machine at work

Alot of haters here on the new machines, but from a shop owner perspective it makes good sense. I have mounted lots of low pro and run flat tires using a standard coats rim clamp but have managed to scratch a couple in the past, now imagine if that were a $3-4k 26"+ wheel and the owner refused...

    Torx 50+

I've used some t55 and t60's but for the life of me I can't remember what for offhand, however I do know I have needed them at least a couple of times. May have been for the caliper slides on certain GMT800 trucks or utilities, but those may have been 50's.

    Tool truck or online?

Yeah I've got a great dealer. He has had this route for better than 20 years and at one point ran 2 trucks to keep up with demand, however the economy tanked and he scaled back a little. His house is like snap on paradise, it's practically a warehouse/vintage SO museum. I've been very fortunate...

    Tool truck or online?

My dealer beats online prices on almost everything, sometimes by quite a bit. I bought a Flf80 and a Tf72 a few weeks ago and he beat online price by a full 10% for me. Ymmv.

What are these tools? Grandpa knew but I don't...

Number 11 is a thread file. 2,3,4,5 and 13 are tool holders of some type for holding the cutting bits for a lathe. Number 10 is a morse taper center, although I'm not smart enough to tell what size and don't know how to tell a live from a dead center. There are a couple micrometers in the second...
