    Show your new tool arrivals

They must have had a bad batch because I just broke a 13mm 3/8 drive socket removing a differential cover from a Yukon which is definitely not a high torque situation. I was pretty disappointed. I sent an e-mail to SK but haven't heard anything back in a week.

    Best Miter saw for beginner

I would second this. I have a Ryobi 10" sliding miter saw that has done everything I've ever asked it to do. I changed the factory blade to a 60-tooth blade and it cuts straight and true with just a little bit of setup. I had to redo my entire downstairs trim after a flood and it did a great...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I changed the transmission filter in the Yukon as well as the rear differential fluid. I tried very hard not to wish trouble on the ****** bean counter who decided not to put a drain in the pan.

Refurb of Craftsman Block Grinder 397.19391

So it has been a long four years. What can I say? A few weeks after the last post Hurricane Harvey flooded my house and then I forgot about this little machine and then I painted the parts and put them away again…life. Anyway, I’m nearly done with it. Here are a few progress photos. I did...

Craftsman Block motor Bench Grinders - What's the Fuss (with resource information)

Cheers! That's quite a website. Do I need the self-tapping screws at this point? I guess it is only a few bucks. Here's a link to the restoration thread that I started four years ago. 1/3HP Craftsman Block 397.19391

Craftsman Block motor Bench Grinders - What's the Fuss (with resource information)

I'm nearly done with restoring a 1/3HP (sneak preview below) and need to get some replacement screws to hold on the side covers. Can I use a standard #8-32 machine screw? They are 3/8" long and have a hex head so I don't think that they'll be easy to match so I'll probably just use a Phillips...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I was visiting family's in SD and found this old Husky ratchet (prior to HD, made in USA) that had been left sitting outside for years. I cleaned it up with a wire wheel and some Evaporust and put it back together.

    Tips and tricks using Evaporust

I’ve successfully used Evaporust to restore old hand tools. I put the tool in a ziplock bag, fill it with Evaporust and then put the bag into an ultrasonic cleaner‘s tub that’s been filled with water. The heat and waves from the ultrasonic cleaner help the Evaporust to work very quickly.

let's see your craftsman block grinders

So I picked up this big guy mounted on the stand at an estate sale today for $50. It runs like a champ! It has the original wheels still installed. I really don't think that most of these grinders see much use at home. So that makes four of these things for me: a a red 1/2HP (quick clean...

    2021 Garage Sale Thread

I went back to the sale where I went yesterday and picked up a few things. Those are 4" Craftsman locking pliers. I haven't seen one that small until now. Then I was looking around and spotted this set of Vise Grip Quick Grip clamps. The package was from 2002 and had never been opened. Yes...

    2021 Garage Sale Thread

I was a day late to this sale, but still managed to find some good stuff. $50 all in. The Stant pressure test tool cost $10 and I’m fairly certain it has never been used and neither have the open end Craftsman wrenches. My Snap-on interchangeable screwdriver shanks fit into the stubby...

Not the garage but the house attic insulation question, what should I do?

As @billconner said, you can blow the new insulation right over the old. You just need to be mindful of any light fixtures that are not rated for coming in contact with the insulation. I paid someone to do my attic. It was pretty inexpensive and well worth the cost in my opinion. If you are...

If you look at the inside cover of the pressure switch there should be a wiring diagram.

IR T-30 needs rebuild, anyone tackle one?

Yes, I've rebuilt a 2340 compressor. It is pretty easy to do. I suggest that you buy the genuine parts from your local distributor.

Nitrile gloves - now that HF 20% coupons are mostly gone, where do you get nitrile gloves?

Get yourself some baby powder and sprinkle it on your hands before putting on the gloves. It works very well for me here in Houston.
