looking for a 3 hp electric Air Compressor motor

I'd try Zoro. If you can find a 15-20% off coupon they are generally pretty price competitive especially since they offer free shipping.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I polished the headlights on the Yukon. The Griot's Garage kit worked really well.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I changed a headlight bulb in the C70. It took less than five minutes! Compare that to the Yukon that I did last week where I had to partially remove the bumper cover in order to remove the complete headlight assembly.

Snap On Hard to Hard Handle Swapping

I put them in a vise and use a pair of pry bars to remove the handle. I’ve also put the receiving tool in the freezer to shrink it down and make it easier to install the new handle.

Confess: What Tool Did You Not Really Need But Bought Anyhow? (Silly Stuff Included)

I've bought 5-6 3/8-in drive speeder handles from estate sales. I have Craftsman, Snap-on and Proto. I rarely use them, but I think that they are cool for some reason. At $5/each they are hard for me to pass up.

I'm in the M12 game now- What next?

I have some M12 tools and like them a lot. I recommend the M12 screw gun. I have the non-Fuel version and it works great. The right-angle drill isn't so great. I use the inflator quite a bit and really like it. I just picked up a M12 6.0 XC battery from Home Depot for $49.

Last night as I was moving the Yukon back into the driveway I saw that the left headlight was out. I checked my parts inventory and had the bulb in stock. 15 minutes later it was back working. On Saturday I changed out the rear HVAC actuators on the Yukon. It wasn't too bad of a job, and...

    Compressor rpm vs heat

I would recommend using a different pulley to stay below the maximum compressor RPM. Your setup will work for awhile, but the compressor will fail prematurely.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I did the front suspension on my Yukon a couple years back and it wore me out. I think I'll be outsourcing that work from now on.

    Tools of Japan

I’m in Tokyo and stopped by a store called Factory Gear. They sell tools and serve beer! I also stopped at Royal Home Center (their version of Home Depot) that had a nice selection of Japanese tools. The Factory Gear salesman was very knowledgeable and knew where everything was in the store. He...

    The off grid mechanic shop

Where are you located? Is a solar panel array an option? You mentioned a water source- can he use the water to turn a turbine generator? I saw a video of a fellow in NZ who made one from a washing machine motor. Washing machine generator

They are all over European cars. I read that the assembly robots can put these eTorx nuts on and not strip the threads or damage the nut as compared to using standard fasteners.

Fresh back from a trip to Tokyo where I stopped at a home center to pick these up: That 3/8-in drive ratchet is super small!
