Recommend a 3/8 Impact Socket Strategy

I don't have a 3/8 impact - not sure what I'd need it for. My 3/8" swivels are impact rated as well, so I like that strategy. My swivels are my only impact rated 3/8" sockets. Everything else is chrome. I've never thought I needed anything more, but in the spirit of garage journal, you...

    Show your new tool arrivals

Wanted some long nose pliers so I went and bought the Milwaukee and ordered the snap ons. The green ones arrived today. When you squeeze them closed, those Milwaukee's get tight....

    Lift Install safe?

Sounds good. Just get it good and clean, bevel the edges and weld it in. ***Also, I can't see how thick that metal is, but you might see if he wants to weld in a fish plate on top of that. Probably overkill but it won't hurt anything.

    Lift Install safe?

Yep, that's probably what I'd do. But, I went to welding school and I'm pretty confident with my ability to evaluate the weld. If you are too, then I'd certainly start there and see how it does.

    Lift Install safe?

That is probably what I would do. I might put in some gussets if it wouldn't be a major trip hazard but that's probably overkill. Good luck.

    New guy, Chuck Brandt

Welcome. Love to see some pictures of the projects. I really like the formula cars from those years. I told my wife I wish they made a kit for a two seater. Something fun I'd like to have.

Sealing 5 year old unsealed stamped concrete

I need to do this as well. What type of sprayer are you using? I was hoping to use my ryobi 2 gallon 18v sprayer. I have about 400sq/ft and am planning on 5 gallons of ar350 for 2 coats. I don't think rolling will get down into the cracks enough on my patio.

Sell me on the Epiq cart. (IT HAS ARRIVED)

Not bad but not 30" deep drawers. It's probably the thing I miss most about working out of a pro box. Now I wish I would have looked around for a SideKiQ. Kinda. If I could afford it more. That's life with Snap On dreams and a HF budget. :D

Sell me on the Epiq cart. (IT HAS ARRIVED)

I looked pretty hard at the SideKIQ but just couldn't justify the cost and wasn't sure how to get one since they were backordered online. I'd have to have an open top, but the first few drawers are not very tall and that might be an issue for you. To sell you, the 30" depth would be fantastic...

    USAG 285x

I almost bought those, but I asked about a holder for those and sent a request and received a response like that. About a week later I got an answer. I ended up buying the Capri Wavedrive while I wait for the Craftsman Overdrive to make a full set. Sorry to see that. I've heard good things...

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

I switched from the 5 drawer cart to the service cart due to the ITC sale. Moved some 1/2" drive stuff into the top. I really like it so far.

What do you use to clean your central AC coils?

Oddly, I just did this yesterday since I had to replace a start/run cap after my AC died Saturday night (my local ACE Hardware had a 50/5uf cap in stock). I used Purafilter 2000 19oz coil cleaner. Sprayed it from the outside in and rinsed it out from the outside in.

Icon 3/8" split beam torque wrench

Grabbed one today and tested it at 60lbs against some known 60lb bolts (beam supports against my basement walls that are tightened to 60lbs) and they were spot on. Not an official calibration by any means, but it matches my matco 1/2" drive wrench @60lbs. Thanks for posting this up. I never...

Anyone Install a Fan in Their Garage?

Have you considered a big pedestal fan? I have a 30" I put wheels on and just push it around wherever I want. Similar to the HF model...

Network optical fiber to the garage recommendations?

If you grab a matched set just make sure you can get the ends from your source to your destination. If you can pull it, you can put in whatever you want. Fiber patch cables are semi-fragile. :ROFLMAO: I can't say I haven't yanked on one, but try to be as gentle as you can and avoid sharp bends.

Network optical fiber to the garage recommendations?

Transceivers determine the cable. You already have them in the ports?

Testing 12v 12ah AGM battery. AH to CCA? Convert to Lipo?

It's the only metric I can test. It might be useless for the scooter, but it seems to give a pretty decent indication of the health of the battery. How good I don't know because CCA isn't listed for some of these batteries. Some of them do list CCA so you could do a fairly good test. I did...

Testing 12v 12ah AGM battery. AH to CCA? Convert to Lipo?

Batteries arrived, installed and mom is scootering around her complex. Much better according to her. FYI... 12v 15ah tested at ~200CCA on my load tester (cheap Chinese Konnewi). The good 12v 12ah battery tested at ~170CCA. No idea if these number are consistent across brands. The model I...

    Ice Machine in your shop?

My wife's only criteria was that it made Sonic style ice. Should wouldn't have used anything else.

Testing 12v 12ah AGM battery. AH to CCA? Convert to Lipo?

Thanks everyone. I'm just going to order two 12v 15ah lead batteries and replace these. I've been looking at setting up a small solar power station, so I'm going to need to get better on these batteries. I guess it's time to start doing the research. I'm fairly good with electronics, but...
