    DIY Garage Door Insulation

Nice jobs and great tips. My daughter and son-in-law just bought a house whose garage door needs this done. Glad I came across this thread.

Rate the difficulty of connecting detached garage to house plumbing (with pictures)

Dig the 120' trench. Sprinkler lines are easy to fix. Worth it in the long run. Less to go wrong. With a couple of correctly placed cleanouts you can "snake" it easily if necessary in the future.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Tuned up the table saw. So happy. I was able to get the back of the blade within 0.002" of the front of the blade. Took some time, but worth it. Then got back to the new kitchen pull out drawers. Cut rabbets for drawer bottoms in all of the pieces and almost finished drilling the pocket...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Made sawdust, cut out all the sides, fronts and backs of the new kitchen pull out drawers from 1/2" baltic birch plywood. Have the grand-kiddos the next couple of days so won't get back to the project until Wednesday.:(

Long C Craftsman drill press, yay or nay?

Had the same issue with mine a few years back. The pulleys are aluminum. One of the welding instructors at the college where I taught was able to weld a piece and repair the break on mine (very similar to your break). I then used some files and emery cloth to shape and polish the weld so the...

Long C Craftsman drill press, yay or nay?

That drill press is a workhorse. Clean it up and use it. Attached is a pic of mine. Belonged to my dad. Sorry about the sideways pics. Original motor, still runs strong.

    My latest score, your thoughts?

That is a great saw. Go ahead and order the rails from Shop Fox. Even at $155 you are still way ahead. If you are not going to set up the saw in a permanent location get the mobile base that goes with it, you won't regret it. really take some time to set up the saw. Oh by the way.....you ****!

A new attic access door and would it be code

Nice! I didn't have as much room as you do. My present door is 5/8" drywall secured with "T" nuts and homemade knobs. Will check out the steel access door. Thanks for the pis and link.

A new attic access door and would it be code

I've done the same thing. Also ran a new electrical circuit and installed lighting and some OSB flooring so I don't have to to do the rafter walk.

    old saw

Nice saw. Have it sharpened. Once two guys get a rhythm going you can go through a 24" log/tree in no time. Used one several times in my "younger" days.

4” x 4” studs found in strange wall

PO of my house did a nice room addition. In the process they used a 4x4 to support a 4x10 header. When I did a small remodel of the dining room I left the 4x4 alone and framed around it. Leave it be. Redo your drywall and don't mess with it. They are more than likely holding some...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I don't have that type of chop saw, but am interested in the stand you made for your grinder. Specs? Material? etc... Thanks. PM me if you don't want to post here.:)

Check out Aquasana. They are based in Texas and make at faucet and whole house filters. As was mentioned, they are pricey. Test first!

    Garage Remodel Questions

Welcome to GJ. I agree with Yingpin. I am facing the floor situation too. I've been in my house/garage 31 years. To do my floor means removing cabinets, shelving units and large power tools. Do the floor first. Right now I don't ever see mine being done. P.S. Include your location...

My latest Stanley Bailey #4 restoration

Nice line up. I especially like the one on the far left (first one in line). Kind of like mine, not too pretty, but kept sharp and work well.
