I think maybe the ratchet was part of a socket set made by Bedford Tools, Sheffield, England and Husky (New Britian) supplied the ratchet. Just seems strange that Bedford had to get an American company to supply the ratchet? Unless Bedford were owned by Husky? Very good quality and fine action.

From what i can work out this ratchet was part of a Bedford socket set but the ratchet was made by Husky USA. Bedford tools are from Sheffield, England i think, strange that they could not manufacture their own ratchet.

I have a 1/2" Husky fine tooth ratchet that i think were made by New Britain, very similar to CS-45. On the handle where it is stamped HUSKY it is also stamped BEDFORD. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Was it made for a company called Bedford? Have never seen another one. Sorry no photo.

Yeah i think its a great little ratchet. As i am in England these old American tools are hard to find. Think the B51 may have been produced from late 1930s onwards. Dont know when the the B51A started being produced?

I have a few American ratchets of all sizes and like them all. I also have Britool, Facom, Gedore, King ****. All of which are decent tools. Personally i would rather spend the price of a new, made in far east ratchet on a used quality tool. I have U.S.A. ratchets from 1940s and 50s and still...

I have a K.S.Tools ratchet screwdriver T handle. It is a great little tool with removable 1/4" shank so you can swap screwdriver shanks for 1/4" square drive shanks for sockets. Quite similar to Snap On and is very good quality. Price was good too.

I have a 3/8 Williams B51A, i was wondering about its age myself?

I have just got one of those, mine is the slightly different B51A refrigeration ratchet. I am in U.K.and these things are super rare over here. I was wondering how to date it?

I have just got one of those myself, B51A which i think may be a refridgeration ratchet with square drive holes in the handle. Was thinking of using a 2 pin grinder key or make a spanner from flatbar with two bolts in to open it up.
