Norcal, from your postings, you are prob one of the more knowledgable electrical guys here (thumbs up). I imagine it's one of those things - if you don't do it often enough and get exposed to different options, you don't understand the pros and cons of what makes a good panel....or not. What...
I just did a double lug 320amp meter with (2) 200amp main breaker panels - 1 in the shop and 1 in the house - single meter/single billing. This is not a subpanel arrangement but each panel gets feed from the meter irrespective of the other. The meter is about $180 if you shop around. Other...
While the slab next door may be big, you don't have to build it all - there is always a need for outdoor work areas. It appears to be already plumbed for water and sewer - a couple of costs you need to consider if you build from scratch. And the fact a slab exists may get you past the P&Z...
evin tho - excellent job.
I just picked up one of these this weekend that I will restore. How does the decorative panel on the head unit come off and re-install? Thanks much and again, excellent work.
Question on your doors. Do they have to open out? I prefer opening in although I know some people are limited by code and some by preference. Also, I would hinge them on the other side than shown.
When you do your materials costing, you can see if it makes sense to standardize on a dimension(s) divisible by 4 or 8. - it usually is.
Yes, doors at opposite ends may save you time over the long haul......but only if there are reasons you may want to enter or exit from that part of the shop...
Looks nice. Was there a reason you decided on 31 x 44? A suggestion would be to evaluate if 31 x 44 makes sense from a materials perspective. you could probably go 32 x 48 with minimal extra expense due to more efficient use of materials.
Other - you may want to consider your personnel...

I have a NH TD19A (diesel) 4WD for small jobs including loading, fence, leveling, raking and primarily mowing. I prefer it over the bigger tractors when possible. 400 hours and nothing but fluid changes.
Excellent find. listen to Ohio Auto - he knows.
I have a few similar condition signs and after a thorough cleaning have wiped them down with motor oil. Eventually the motor oil flashes but it gives some level of ongoing protection. I haven't seen any detrimental effects and I like the way...
I like the show and believe in most cases, he is correct in his assessment(s). Yes, he's a drama queen at times and my wife has not only perfected his "big sigh" but his "ok, tear it out". While he is critical of contractors, I have also seen him at times compliment the contractor or at least...
I have run LRD and LRE radial tires on both a 20' gooseneck and BP with heavy equip or vehicle loads with good success. Smaller trailers get quality LT radial tires. If trailer tires gives someone peace of mind or meets their local legal requirements, I fully understand that and encourage...
My last 2 (and only) lawn tractors have been Craftsman GT5000's with a 26hp(?) kohler/hydrostat. I've been reasonably satisfied - the first one lasted about 5 years and that was with extreme use and my failure to keep the oil level up is the only thing that put it to it's grave. Deck held up...
John and Corcoran - no I paid the $60. I was only saying that it was like buying a $40 box since I was going to use the casters for other projects (i.e., it prevented me from having to spend the $20 or so that I would have had to had I not bought the cabinet). This is how I justify purchases...
