    Working with wood help.....

Those areas look like maybe they got wet at some point which will give you darker areas that have a raised grain . Try resanding with 120 grit as a final before staining again . Not a big fan of minwax , sometimes depending on the wood it will show where you start and stop with the rag ...

    Pexto 137 shear

Well I finally got a set of blades , had to buy another shear that was from a school and came with an extra set . Now I have a shear on Craigslist for sale . By the way after seeing the blades only one side is beveled or sharp and in doing some reading flipping the blades looks like it means...

    Pexto 137 shear

Yes you can flip the bottoms once and the tops 4 , at least on the pexto . You can take them to resharp in Halifax . He sends them out but I don't think you will pay any shipping . I'm waiting for my saw sharpener to get back to me , he says he has a set he will give me but I don't have them in...

I havnt figured out how to post pictures yet , it's actually still in the box truck because I havnt had time to unload it and found a spot to put it . Quotes for the knives so far are average $325 each with federal knife quoting $572 for the pair ( very nice people and responded right away )...

    Pexto 137 shear

Nice machines , I'm finding they are a bit pricy to buy and used are rare . Only advantage is with new I'll probably never need to sharpen them . Cost about $200 to sharpen and probably $700 new . Other option is there is another machine the guy wants $300 for but it's an 18 ga machine . Not...

    Pexto 137 shear

Thank you , I've been watching them looking for a good price . I can spend small amounts of money here and there so even though it's not a super deal it works for me . Yes I believe they still sell them but their not cheap . If I can find a good used set even better .

    Pexto 137 shear

I just picked up a pexto 137 shear , nice shape , needs a cleaning , the bad is it needs blades ( doesn't have them ) . Anybody have experience in the best place to purchase new or used . Paid $200 for the shear so think it's worth buying new but a used set might be way to go . Thanks , richard

    Low torque torque wrench question

I like this reply , I have a few harbor freights ($9.00 ) you can't beat them for the kids throwing them around . Those , 2 craftsman clicks and an old beam type all seem the same . For most things consistency is the goal . Engine internals on big hp motors you want to be right on .

Need recommendations on a finish nailer

Probably the 16ga is most versatile . I used it for everything trim wise inside the house . Sold it one day because I was using a 15ga and 18ga more often in the field . There are times I wish I had it back but I just continue with the two others and work fine . I had the porter cable and it...

Should I just not be getting a new plane?

I have a few planes but my most used is my Stanley low angle block , I have a Nelson low angle / angle blade block but I don't really like it , and 3 rabbet planes , Stanley bullnose , record stubby bullnose , and a Stanley 93 I believe . All those I really like . I have an old Stanley handyman...

    New drill/driver combo

Nice thing about having at least 1- 2.0ah battery is they charge in 15 min . Can keep you going when the bigger ones die out . I'm in the woodworking trade and makita and hitachi are most seen , cordless and corded . Dewalt was big with carpenters and Milwaukee with plumbers and electricians . I...

    New drill/driver combo

Makita here , been using them since the 9.6v came out , no issues ever except wearing them out and one battery that I kept charging and the chip shut down ( my fault ) . Was thinking of switching then I bought the right angle drill so I guess I'll keep them . Also have the 18v hitachi and like...

    Hardwood flooring install

Are you using a starter strip and starting from the middle ?? ( piece with two tongues ) . Is this a common way or not . Seen this done on large open areas but wasn't sure if it was common practice

Torin 3.5 ton floor jack at Tractor Supply

Just went there , was $69 when it rang up but I got him to give another 15% so brought it to $55 with tax . Still a good buy ( not sure what I'll do with it . Already have 2 ) . It wasn't with the other jacks it was in the clearance section
