Planning: Ceiling and insulation for outbuilding

Over the past couple weeks I've been working on insulating the walls in my outbuilding, now I need to start looking at a ceiling w/ insulation. But this poses a lot more questions than I had about insulating walls :) For reference, this is on a detached garage, 40'x22', bottom chord of the...

What did you do "TO" your garage today?

Re: What did you do to your garage today? Put up insulation on the walls in the first corner of the outbuilding. Took me a while and I'm only 25% done :willy_nil but I'm getting quicker at it. Also remounted one of the lights onto a bracket to keep it off the wall

    Sweeping compound

I may have to try this, my concrete floor is really bad at dusting. If I try and sweep it up probably half of whats on the floor just gets kicked up into the air and gets everywhere

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

I was originally going to look into the rotary tumblers but I seemed to see a lot of recommendations to go with a vibratory type over the rotary style. Do you think it is due to the specific HF product not working very well or just the style not being suited for that type of work? Maybe I'll...

Powering a car stereo from AC current

I have a spare head unit that I will probably be using for a garage stereo with a couple 6x9's. I'll be powering it up w/ a computer power supply I have laying around. I wouldn't trust it to power a big sub amp but a typical 350W computer power supply I would imagine should power the head unit's...

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

Any input on this 5-lb vibratory tumbler? PN 67617 It looks nearly identical to the 5 lb Eastwood unit I only saw one reference to the HF unit in another thread but not much more than that. I've got a lot of used nuts/bolts I'd like to clean up. HF reviews seem to state as long as I add a...

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

The guy I talked with when I was first there mentioned to look for the keys first, as they sometimes get attached to the styrofoam or just fall out. Mine were taped pretty well to a closed drawer. I guess checking for good keys while at HF is also worth doing while your checking for dents.

Here are a few items I've gotten recently: 4-1/2" Angle Grinder PN 95578 $10 w/ coupon PASS I had to adjust the safety cover as it was loose out of the box but that was no big deal. I got it specifically for a project (cutting pavers for my walkway) so all I cared about was having it last...

    My paver walkway project

I got it from a nursery/landscaping company down the street from me here in Woodstock. Each yard of material (3 total) was about $25-30 bucks each. Delivery was $50 bucks. I paid an extra $10/yard to have it delivered in canvas bags. I chose the bags so that I didn't have to deal with big piles...

    My paver walkway project

Drain is going to be beside the walkway, should be enough room, I have about a foot and a half at the moment between the edging of the pavers and the stump. But the stump is pretty composed already, only the very center of the stump is solid anymore. I'll tear out the stump but will probably not...

    My paver walkway project

Yup, I put down some edging on the side, they came with ~10 inch spikes. Without them I would be paranoid the pavers would start spreading apart. If I can do it, anyone can do it  Yup I have a lot of respect for people who can do this for a living, I think the main reason mine looks...

    My paver walkway project

I think that is what I would have preferred, to either do a wider walkway or have a ft or two away from the wall. Unfortunately there were two things going against me for doing it any wider: -There is a old tree stump about 5 ft away from the wall (you can see it in some pictures) and I wanted...

    My paver walkway project

So far, my mistakes: Know exactly what you are going to do before starting! My walkway is a little lower than I estimated because I ended up having to go w/ Home Depot pavers, which were about an inch shorter than the other nicer ones I saw. Add to that when I accidentally dug the trench a...

    My paver walkway project

Next day I added the base material. Ended up using all of it but the thickness was good enough. I didn't rent a plate compactor so I tamped it all by hand, took forever and wore me out! Forgot to mention the walkway is 3' wide by about 40+ ft long. Some of the pictures are a little deceiving...

    My paver walkway project

So I've always hated using the side door to my detached outbuilding/workshop, it's just a random door that you have to walk through dirt and grass to get to. So I did a whole bunch of research and started my walkway project over the new years weekend. I didn't get crazy w/ it but I am totally...

10-4. The description on the website only has it as 4" wider and 3" deeper, and both approximately 150 lbs so I figured they were physically close.

RE: $15 Kobalt cross force wrenches

Re: $15 Kobalt cross force wrenches On Lowes.com they are $15/set. For some reason if I search "crossform" the listings show they @ $25/set but if you go to their specific pages and add to your cart... the $15/set price is what is listed. The 31st reference was from the Lowes website...

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

How does the 5 drawer cart compare to the black 4 drawer (that has the $99 super coupon)? I'm thinking about picking up the black 4-drawer since it's cheaper and has similar specs to the (slightly) larger red version. Even the black one's weight limit is far more than I need, but it would be...
