    Propane sticker shock

Holy cow. I just paid 3.50 a gallon plus the fuel surcharge and some bs maintenance fee to fill my tank. I don't have an option since they own the tank but I'm about to tell them to pick it back up.

What's your shop temp inside and out?

24 outside currently. Been shoveling snow with layers on for hours and 54 feels like summertime. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Electric Box Spacer/Extension?

I wish I had before pictures but mine were recessed slightly and the lack of overhang that left the drywall edge exposed drove me nuts. I made these with a holesaw kit, drill bits, MAC shears and some aluminum scraps from my buddies shop. It took about an hour, I spent many hours searching for...

What's your shop temp inside and out?

13 F outside, it got to 23 today. Shop was 46 this morning but I cranked it up to 55 for about an hour to move some benches around. When Im not on winter break and actually working out there Im in a tee shirt at 70 degrees regardless of outside temp. 85k btu oil furnace

4000k vs 5000k High bay LED's need opinions fast please

This has to be a shot at the color preference argument. Either that or I've missed the point again. To be relevant, I would take the discount and install what you have in hand. Paint color, dust and age will lower the color temp anyways.

Layout and light suggestions, just poured concrete

I read the best fixture sticky as well, little over a year ago. I did way more calculations with unknown units than my simple brain could comprehend so I did what I do best and just winged it. Here is what I ended up with and I like it. 30x36x12, white ceiling and off-white walls, 16 4 ft T-12...

    1000 square feet of fun

Ive planned and planned and consulted GJ for about 5 years now. Bought my property based on what I could build. Had another son. Got a new job in addition to the 2 I still have. For a year and half I've been building my 30x36 shop for the most part by myself. For some reason I havn't had the...

You know your wife loves you when

Thats awesome, my wife likes old station wagons but thats about the extent of her automotive interest. She wouldnt know the difference between a vise and a hubcap at an estate sale.

    What to put on walls?

I just finished mudding my sheetrock last night. Had my brother who had the tools and experience help. Now to the sanding. I forgot the price difference between sheetrock and osb after a few months of evenings hanging, taping and mudding. Not to mention moving all of my stuff back and forth to...

19 Years Old, Toolbox So Far, Suggestions/Help Appreciated

I'm an automotive tech teacher, a father, and a tech. It is refreshing to see someone proud of their tool collection. My advice is to borrow, if you can, before you buy. Do not fall for financial trickery, buy tools because you need them to work for you. I have uncounted tens of thousands in...

Anyone have a shutter exhaust fan?

Thanks for the input guys, I like the idea of USA made and also the pricepoint on the J and D stuff. Marc: I am near the east coast of NC. More worried about cold air leaking out in the summer. I was thinking of building some type of interior box like that. RAYJAY: Can you take some pics of...

HVAC/R classes at local trade school?

I teach automotive repair at a high school tech center. We have an HVAC class that certifies graduating seniors with OSHA and EPA credentials. Next year it will be a dual enrollment course which means our local community college is offering college credit for students and also opening the doors...

Anyone have a shutter exhaust fan?

I'm not sure this fits heating/cooling but I do want to move some air. Does anyone have a 20-30 inch shutter type exhaust fan that is relatively balanced and would recommend? There are so many choices out there I'm getting frustrated. Thanks

    Truss repair question

They offered to send a repair guy out, i would rather do it myself. Yes they called out nailing patterns. They want me to scab both sides. It sounds like this is a common fix which makes me feel better about it, just wanted to make sure i wasnt getting some wonky fix to get me off the phone.

    Truss repair question

Yes it came from the same manufacturer that built the trusses. They did undergo some type of buyout or merger tho.
