That Bonney vise looks very similar to one I have. It has similar markings. Are there any other markings on yours? Great haul! That Prentiss is awesome!

I decided to return my original Wilton 307 to my pow-r-arm. It seems somewhat rare at least on GJ.

I feel your pain. I’m working on a prentiss 75 that apparently was at the center of Manhattan experiment detonation. The static tower was completely blown out. I attempted to repair it this afternoon. It’s cooling in a big dirt pile after several nomacast rods. I welded the dynamic on my...

    Craftsman 5197 AND 5198 registry

Welcome to GJ and congrats on the 5197. I think that's a common failure on these vises. Check your shelf support as well. They are very prone to cracking. My 5197 is April of 1948 but I think there is one on this thread that is a little older. The new numbers are: 05197 - 27 05198 - 12

My dad always jokes that if I ever move, the foundation on my garage is going to move up an inch or two. I'm sure I would have heard about it here if that were true lol.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I wanted to share this with you guys in case it would benefit you. I had a growing pile of vises that I haven't gotten to and some that are done with nowhere to display them. I got these shelves on Amazon for about $100. They can hold 400lbs per shelf. they aren't perfect but plenty sturdy with...

Ok great! Welcome to the exclusive club! You have only the 12th documented example. It looks to be in very good condition. 05197 - 26 05198 - 12 With this addition we are still at less than 40 vises total. I'm sure a few members may be holding out but that still makes for pretty low numbers...

    Morgan Chicago 40 vise jaws

you can still buy jaw inserts from the Morgan vise company. They are still in business. I don't have the link to the website. I do know firsthand that if you call them and give the information about your vise, they will be able to tell you if the new jaws fit your old vise.

Wilton Bullet Vise date stamping. show yours with or without EXP on slide

Nice find! I'm still hunting for a reasonable C3. It seems like the local CL always has good vise deals up in your area. Way too far for me.

Wiltons are nice, I have a few. Be prepared to pay up more than likely. I would also consider many of the other vintage American vises out there. Some are superior in many ways to the bullet vises. You're in the right place to start looking. Good luck.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Yours looks great! I got extremely lucky. I was missing one pipe jaw and found just one on eBay. It happened to be the one that fit the dynamic I guess because it was different than the other two. I plan on going back and polishing the handle and locks. I’m also impressed with the quality of...
