    Snap On box resto KRA-53

I tried the saw blade, and I couldnt get it to work. I found a truck driving around, and bought the $1.50 "drawer removal tool". Worked like a charm, totally worth it.

    Snap On box resto KRA-53

I used evapo-rust on the slides. It was $8.99 from orielly's. I picked up the box from the powdercoater today. There are two issues that I discovered when I got home. He drilled two holes in all three drawers, and two holes in the bottom of the box, I assume to hang them while coating. To be...

Those would look really good with a wood top, maybe 1 inch thick or so.

    Difference in these SO boxes?

I saw yours today. I guess it makes sense for more drawers to be desirable. I guess my '63 KRA with only 3 drawers wont be worth near that, then. You must be sick if you think its "near scrap metal", and the age should only drive the price up. "really old", lol.

    Difference in these SO boxes?

Why are these selling for so much, and this last one didnt? I mean hell, they sold for about 5 times the price, and are very similar IMO. I'm somewhat new to these vintage boxes, am I missing something obvious...

    Finished! SO Tool Box Restoration

Is that the original lock? The only thing I'm missing is the lock cylinder. Can you take a picture of the lock close up, and the back side too? The piece that would swing down and lock into the opening in the box? I know that would be impossible to find, but I could make it, and probably use a...

    Finished! SO Tool Box Restoration

HA. A "d"? Wow dude. He straightened it out some, and the finish looks fine. I've seen far worse. Who are you to judge? I think it looks great. I don't like the color, but I can see beyond your personal taste, and see the work. You took your time, and I'm excited to get mine back from...

Galaxie. No logos or lock on your box? Do you still have the lock? It looks like the lock cylinders are just that, and I would need to fab, or find the locking mechanism that goes into the groove in the box.. Would you by chance still have yours?

    Tweeking this tiny box's lid

I have this TINY little SO box. I have a little 1/4 drive Snap On socket set in one of the newer plastic cases, and would love to ditch that, for this older box. I thought the lid would be easy to get back in place but I was wrong. I put a socket under the low side, and applied light pressure...

Lining up drawers on old SO box.

Right. I just drove around eyeing for a Snappy truck, and came up empty handed. I usually see them around school (tech school) and the airport across the street. If I don't bump into one by tomorrow, I'll order from a deal here. My main question is getting those drawers to line up. Nothing...

Lining up drawers on old SO box.

Picked up this KRA-53 this weekend for.... $20. I believe that's a decent deal. Its got a '63 date stamp on the back. There is so many posts on here and the HAMB about restorations, its got me very excited, and I've been majorly jonesing for an older Snap On box to work one. I dont know why...

    What's your workbench look like?

I moved into my first shop about a year ago. Working on the floor quickly got old, so I decided to slap together a couple benches. Keep in mind, I have VERY limited carpentry experience. I attempted to go for a "butcher block" top, but I did no research, and It didn't look so great. I used 5...
