    Drill Bits

Ok guys, lets hear everyones opinion on what the drill bits are for the money. We've all used the cheapies at one point or another, but we eventually gotta step up. I'm assuming cobalt, since steel is about all I ever drill.

    instant water heater issues

It's a JC1 JCE55 heater, I have the same one, as we were discussing in earlier posts. 11.000 watts, or less if you set the temp lower, and it works great especially for the price. I paid about $142 for mine last year and I see they are still available for about the same price.

    instant water heater issues

I am running 600 ft of 3/4", with about 15' running outside to the entry by the door. The reason you don't get the light on is because the leg of the heater that triggers the light isn't made, not a big deal. You could attach it to one that is if you wanted to. If you have a computer out there...

    instant water heater issues

The Grundfos pump I'm using appears to be a little stronger than your Taco, but I can't find exact flow figures. Mine is currently runnig at about 12-15 psi, any higher seemed to slow things down a bit. As for firing the pump, it took me a while to figure out how I wanted to do it and my...

    instant water heater issues

Oddly enough that is the exact same heater I am using right now. That pump may not be enough to activate that heater with the heater's flow control at full. I've found so far that I have to have the valve at just past the second position for the heater to stay on. That being said, I run mine on...

Can somebody help me with sizes?

Monthly is questionable since I just finished it about 2 wks ago, but I did a little math. Based on a 11,000 watt heater, running for 15 min, off for 1:15(16%), it would run 4 hours a day total at about 60 cents an hour. Extend that out to a month, and you get about $72/month. Our electricity is...

Can somebody help me with sizes?

My setup is reasonably close to yours, 600ft, 2 loops, 3/4" Heat Link tubing. With a 37,000 btu tankless heater, and a Grundfos UPS15-58C pump, everything seems to be working wonderfully so far. The pump is a 3 speed, and I normally run it on high. Let me know of you have any questions...

Getting ready to pour concrete tomorrow - radiant floor heating question

I would also consider chopping your 500' lengths into 250' sections, 500' is probably too long to keep the heat uniform in the slab.

    slab quote

One other thing to make sure you do is put perimeter insulation around the slab. your heat loss from the slab is greatest at the outside edges. I used 1 1/2" Celfort around the perimeter, and poured the slab out to it, against the block wall.

    Simple compressor wiring ?

Re: Simple compressor wiring (oh-oh different plug) ? White becomes your second "hot" but make sure you mark it as such with black tape so anybody servicing will know it.:)

    More radiant heat questions.

It's also highly recommended to insulate around the perimeter, where most of the heat loss to the earth will occur. You might want to be careful lifting the tubing up into the concrete, 4" thickness doesn't allow much room for error if you're going to saw cut the slab. Good luck, you'll love it...

    Raptor Lighting

Hi guys, great forum. I'm in the process of building a 23x34 detached garage. I have to make lighting decisions soon, and I came across the Raptor fluorescents. I did a search and haven't found any threads with anyone using these. Does anyone have any experience with these, they've really got my...
