I bet most of the tools in that picture are still in use or in someone's toolbox....can't say that about most of the **** that passes for tools today.

    My solution to wheelbarrow storage.

After reading the op's post I got motivated to do something similar with my wheelbarrow - it's one of those things that doesn't seem to get used much but was always taking up space or in the way. So, I went down to Home Depot and looked for a suitable hanger/hook that would work - the one I used...

HF 20ton Shop press: too much play

It does have side play, but I'm not sure how important that's going to be when squared up and applying force straight down. If it becomes a problem I was thinking of making some Delrin 'shims' to take up the slack. So far the only thing I'm concerned about is that the apron doesn't seem to sit...

    Hydraulic shop press accessories

That's a great idea. Does it matter what type of pipe it is (galvanized, black, etc.)? I was thinking about getting some pipe end caps for this very thing but I didn't think they could stand up to the pressure, maybe couplings with a plug on one end is the trick, and it's a pretty cheap solution...

    Hydraulic shop press accessories

What do you guys use on your shop press to press out & install bearings? I have a race/seal installer kit from Lisle Tools, works great for seals, but I believe they are aluminum and I don’t think they would hold up against a 20 ton press. I have seen shops use assorted pieces of solid steel rod...

    shop vac??

I have 2 Shop-Vac brand units - one is the 'old school' orange shop-vac that you should probably wear jet aircraft hearing protection for. The newer one is one of their quiet models (QSP model?) and is just a bit louder than our home vac. It's actually a pleasure to use compared to the other...

    Battery maintenance system

That's what I have used for years (the Jr. model) - on bikes and cars that are stored 5-6 months out of the year, no problems.

    Rotate tires without balance?

I see the argument that "if it's free, may as well have it done", but the other side of that coin, especially if your car has something other than steel wheels & hubcaps (oops, I mean wheel covers), is that every time they take the weights off and crimp new ones on they scratch/chip the coating...

    Craftsman tractors?

I went through this about 10 years ago when we needed to buy a small tractor to mow about 2 acres of ‘un-manicured’ field. I looked at JD, CUB, Toro, New Holland (same as Toro back then), Kubota, Craftsman and anything else I could find. Around that time there was a good article on one of the...

Tool chest drawer liner...what to use?

Any good ideas on an inexpensive liner option? I can’t believe what some places are charging for the stuff – Even the cheaper stuff for $5 only does 2 drawers. I figured someone out there has found a good alternative.

    Air chisels...

Is there any site that shows how to use all the different air chisels? Some are self explanatory – like the flat chisels, punch, and hammer. But some of the others have me scratching my head: How do you use the bushing splitter? The nut splitter looks like a mini pickle fork, I would have...
