Insulating a garage attic without venting?

Installing ridge or gable vents without any soffit vents will result in a negative pressure situation in the attic and air (hot/cold/or moist) will be drawn out of the work space. Don't forget the advantages of cooling the attic space during the hot summer also, when deciding between vent/no...

Inch lb torque wrench advice: CDI or PI

The CDI wrenches are built in the U.S., but the ratchet head itself is imported. The defining difference between a CDI version and a Snap on version. So gas guzzler, don't beat yourself too hard. You are still supporting some U.S. families.

Inch lb torque wrench advice: CDI or PI

I would carefully consider the things you will be using it on. I would think that the 250 inch lb. would be slightly more useful: 4 to 20.8 ft. lb. vs. 3 to 16.7 ft. lb.. Just my opinion.

    STIHL MS362 My New Toy

Maybe the testosterone levels from reading this thread kicked in? Or, he must be cutting some pretty good sized stuff (in northern hardwood standards). Since I am not conditioned (in shape) to run a larger saw all day long, I find I am much more productive running a lighter, smaller saw like...

    Snap on torque wrench calibration.

Most SO tool trucks have a device to "check" the calibration. However, they will not perform a calibration adjustment. Tell him your concern about free work, and slip him $10 for the favor. The wrench you speak about is made by Precision instruments and is available much cheaper with this...

    Armstrong and KD

Actually, Armstrong and KD are related in the fact that they are/were under the Danaher umbrella and these products were made by Danaher owned JS Technologies in Georgia. It seems that you have somewhat of a hybrid with an Armstrong ratchet mounted on a KD body. Without any proof, it could...

Hose Clamp Cable Pliers-Ratchet vs. Non

Gentlemen, There's plenty of past threads regarding cable type hose clamp tools. In the end, they all seem to work. After studying them, I cannot determine if the ratchet style is really required (it seems like the best style theoretically) and they they tend to be almost double the price of...

which is the better Torque wrench?

stephen1966, its all speculation. I can imagine S&J can put different handles or heads on.... Here is a picture of the Danaher/J&S made SK torque wrench (old SK) with SK ratchet head: And here is a picture of the old Danaher/S&J made blue Lowes Kobalt torque wrench: And a red KD one:

which is the better Torque wrench?

I thought that ATD handle looked familiar. This site says ATD are made by JS Technology (a Danaher Co.) in Georgia. Same company that labels wrenches for KD/Gearwrench, Napa, Armstrong, and Craftsman...

    Need some Torque Wrench help

humpdawg, even though that takes only 2 seconds to do, I have never heard of this. Where did you learn this? Please don't tell me the owner's manual! Although, I did learn years ago with many instruments (survey) that it is good to go below your desired level, then adjust back up. Thank you.

Pressure bleeder cap for Chrysler products?

You can make your own adapter cap, as shown on this web page (sorry if you already know this): http://faculty.ccp.edu/faculty/dreed/campingart/jettatech/bleeder/index.htm That cap is common on some other Chrysler products (Jeep Wrangler) and it even looks similar to my Caravan cap. I would...

KD/Gearwrench TQ wrenches - Anybody got feedback on them?

To my knowledge, they are made by Danaher owned JS Technologies in Georgia, who also makes the Craftsman torque wrenches. Compare them to an Armstrong version and you will see they are identical (maybe Armstrong uses a different ratchet head???). I used a NAPA branded one numerous times and...

Best Source / Brand - Wire Terminals

Regarding the T & B ones, is there any way to buy them in smaller quantities. Maybe 25 per size? Last time I checked, seems like they are a bit pricey for boxes of 100.

Looking for suggestion for garage privacy

At least be a bit proactive. Have good theft insurance. Don't keep any sentimental items in the garage that can't be replaced. If you don't have an alarm system, maybe at least have a few cheap motion detectors wired to lights or a loud siren. Keep equipment covered with simple drop...

Please help me find a decent 3/8" drive click type torque wrench

Figure out which model you want (range, etc.), then go net shopping for either CDI (Snap on), Precision Instrument (split beam is popular here), or KD/Gearwrench. They are all mostly U.S. made (CDI has import head, but excellent) and the next step up over the Craftsman plastic handle ones...

Torque wrenches, ready to order ... need some wisdom

People here love to talk torque wrenches. I love my two PI split beams. Here are some other pros and cons to alleviate buyers remorse (all options discussed are excellent) The scale markings are coarse on the PI's (5lbs. and 2 lbs.). BUT, since torque can vary +/- 30 percent using this...

Should I spray waterproof my boots that are factory waterproof

Obenauf's for me. I live in my work boots and I now get 6 to 8 months more use out of my boots with Obenauf's. It's a popular product on the pro tree crews that are wearing Wesco, White boots, etc.. I used to use Sno-Seal, but my leather would start to crack after some time. I was told...

    which chainsaw?

I, too, am very pleased with the Stihl MS260 pro. It is a simple, rugged saw with good power, yet not too heavy. A 16 inch bar is perfect on it......bigger is just more to bog down the engine. Parts and service is tremendous. I like the chain brake mechanism and chain tightening system...
