    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The 12-Gauge Garage

Odyssey is great, and GRM used to tow a small AL car trailer with their's before they got the pilot. I would not own one, though. Now the Mid Engine Toyota van, yeah that makes sense to me. Its got racing heritage you know ;) I do have to say the new ones, I don't like the lower window line...

The 914 Garage - A Work in Progress

Nice set of 914s there. If you don't mind me asking where did you get your flare work done! I have been getting the rears setup, I like your fronts, also looks like the work of John Kelly

    Wheeling machine question

90 to the frame allows you to work much longer pieces. What it really depends on is what you plan on rolling. If you need the length, then the 90 degree wheel will be the best. Think car roof sections.

    Concrete sealer for garage?

I sealed my first two garage floors back in 91, both have held up great. I wish I sealed my new floor instead I went epoxy. Reflects light better, but I am a welder fabricator, and epoxy just does not cut it. Looking at a recoat this year. Mean while my sealed floors are still looking great.

Any car flippers on the board?

Can't make money doing it if you care about what you make an hour. Honestly you would be better off banking your money, take a walk on the beach or where ever you find you can listen to your inner voice, drown out everything else and go. For me major life changes and decisions require that I...

    Jack/Jackstands on Epoxy Floor

You can cut up rubber inner tubes and glue them to the wheels of your jacks. The rubber bands will keep it from scratching and when they wear, you just cut them off, and then replace. You can also put stuff under them, just make sure its something that does not crack and break.

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The 12-Gauge Garage

$3500 really Jack, you just put the Snap-on truck out of business. Glad to see your garage hit a mainstream publication, your hard work deserves this notoriety. I know I come here and look at your garage almost everyday. I only hope to make mine 1:25th of yours I would be happy. Even at...

A fleet of dune buggies from scratch

If it was not a prolonged reverse why not just use a DC motor and a belt and pulley arrangement. Just hit a button and backup. Nothing major, its just to get out of a bind right? Or a starter and ring gear, then no need for a clutch on the motor. Convert it to a hybrid system and run...

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The 12-Gauge Garage

Jack, I use an easy car lift on my 914, and have found hockey pucks work great for other cars. My Jetta IVs would backup on the lift, creep backwards if you will. The Pucks solved that problem, while not as cheap as wood, they also don't split, like wood does. BTW, love the boards, you need...

    Mounting a winch/ on a Reciever / On a car trailer?

Leeboy, is that a single axle trailer by chance? If it is I would love to see some more pictures. I tow a 1750 lbs race car, and don't need my current dual axle setup, just to much trailer for the car. You can get receiver tubes from tractor supply, and weld one on. I would cross tube the...

tools needed to get into metal fabrication

I started out in my dad's garage, your welder is way ahead of what I started with. But here you go. My first project was a 1966 CJ-5, with a fiberglass body. We built a tube frame to tie in everything out of angle iron, and flat stock. Tools, a heavy bench, a heavy vice, and acetylene torch...

Show off your sheet metal fab projects

Yeah for three parts MDF is the way to go. :bounce: I have thought about running double sheer, the lower arm mount is double sheer. But yes the upper is single. Thinking about it the double sheer would lighten the part. Sounds like a great project for in a week or two. Right now I am...

Show off your sheet metal fab projects

Nasty, is that MDF you are using for that flare die? Great Idea for an occasional die. And thank you Jim, I keep thinking about the Harbor Freight Punch set, I have an entire set of british punches, and a few green lines. But now that I see that setup, and I can build flaring dies for it...

    Maintaining an Older(ish) Car

Not a big deal, make a list check them off, start small, and work towards the bigger items. The dash crack, they all do it, I have a Porsche that might as well not have a dash pad. In reality I replaced it, with a cleaner one, it has one small crack. But still it is there and you know it...

Cat 5 Cable for Underground Conduit Question

I did this cat 5e direct burial, add a lighting arrestor to each end, and run. Full Gig to the shop, my servers are down there. I have a separate wireless setup for the house and the shop, but the signal was to unreliable, trying to run off the Houses Wifi. Regular cat 5 will last a long time...

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

Anybody have a better scan of the $349 13 drawer chest. I'm in hte market for a couple of them, will just make a trip to a few stores over the week. But the scan by dig, while I am greatful, I can't use cause the barcode is not clear. My local stores get a little peazed when they can scan a...

    Car audio powered by 120V

Any home audio would be better than a car amp and a head unit. I run a small sony book shelf unit and an iPhone with pandora, simple, clean, and sounds great. If you must I would go with a battery, and a trickle charger. Get a GelCell out of an alarm panel, maybe add a cap, but if your...

Hansen vs. The New Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Pro Socket Trays

I used wood bottom and a dowels for my first set of socket holders. With a brother label machine, you could easily setup a tray set for any socket set you have. Only issue is it requires an extra 1/2" in the drawer. Getting ready to redo it, and am thinking that I will go the wood and dowel...

Before I drywall - checklist for in-wall goodies?

Do not run airlines in wall, its a bear to fix any leaks you might have. Had a friend who did this, and ended up cutting open every place he had a joint and installing access panels. What a pain, I learned and all my air lines are surface mount.
