    Bench top material?

It’s over 50 years old and I was given it about 40 years ago by my friend’s dad. It has moved with me 3 times. I didn't use varnish, but I have stained and rehabbed it over the years with stiffening and added that finish-ply top about 17 years ago. I stained that too. Since then, I give the top...

    TV In Your Garage

Pro TV here! Just upgraded to a 50” TV to replace my old 30”. We live in good times when you can buy a budget smart TV this size, 4k resolution, and Ultra HD for less than $200. I have it wired to an older AV receiver with a bluetooth receiver attached. I enjoy TV or Pandora when I am...

    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

@atch - I got the batteries as a freebie with any purchase promotion. I keep them in my desk drawer for when my mouse needs a change. They have done well under that light load. I also grabbed the shank adapters. Great to have for my impact driver. PASS to both.

Recommendations for small electric garage heater for 480 square feet

I am in New England and use this in my 624 sf garage with 10’ ceilings. It heats the space nicely in a short time. I use a fan on a remote switch set on a high shelf to push the warm air down from the ceiling too: Heater link

How much land do you need to not have "visible" neighbors?

1.46 acres here. I have neighbors on either side but we are not on top of each other, and we don't mind hearing the kids playing. We did do some strategic Norway spruce planting on one side for a visual buffer. Our lot backs up to 36 acres of conservation land. We love it, though the bears...

Battery Chainsaws - What do you like?

Off topic a little, but I thought I would throw this in - corded is significantly less convenient, but the power is very good if you can live with a cord. I have this one: https://youtu.be/-Ymr6Hp5GoQ I‘m on an acre and a half with 3 exterior outlets and some long cords. For the limited cutting...

I could use some help for a backyard floodlight.

Took a trip to Lowes and ended up with this. The bulbs cost roughly triple what the fixture cost! I like this solution as I was able to put it on a dimmer switch for when the bears need a break from the nebula! Thanks for the input all.

I could use some help for a backyard floodlight.

So I was gifted an Amazon gift card and would like to use for a backyard flood light. We back up to the woods and get a bit of snow and would like to see it at night. I have a carriage style light on my back garage entrance and would like to replace it with a bright flood. I would welcome any...

    Ideas for heating a shed?

Im in the “run a panel out there and go electric” camp. I put a bigger (10,000 watt) one of these in our 2-car garage and it has worked out great: Heater It takes about 30 minutes to bring it up to comfortable from the low 40’s, and has a remote and a timer.

What Temperature is your Garage in the Winter?

Our garage is attached with conditioned home space on 1 side and above. it is insulated as well so never drops below the low forties, so I only heat it when I am working. Humidity in the winter is rarely an issue, and not bringing snow in on the vehicles helps. No rust issues yet.

Best way to hang/store yard tools?

I keep the majority in my shed in one of these (not my pic). The ones I need seasonally go on a rubbermaid fastrack in my garage. Works great for me.
