    Flat roof repair Questions

The best way to keep a flat roof dry is with a one peice rubber membrane like this. It's actually pretty reasonable at $.44 per square foot. Maybe you could convince the old man of the benefit in spending a little money to fix it now and never having to worry about it again (in his lifetime).

    lift safly

I would say you did the owner of that vehicle a big favor. If the frame was that bad what if it had just cracked in half on the highway when he was carrying a moose in the back :yikes:. How do you steer out of something like that.

    Favorite Assembly lube?

For motor assembly I like Lubriplate 105. It's a very light bodied white grease. Keeps things lubed during initial startup but quickly washes away and dissolves into the oil once oil pressure comes up.

    Anybody know SMAW?

Well I'm not an expert at stick but I've done a little bit. From what I know it's all about watching the puddle of molten metal that forms at the end of the rod. Try to keep a nice even consistent puddle shape and you will get a nice even consistent weld. If you are going too fast you won't...

    GarageJournal.com - An Update!!!!

Ryan, It's just natural for people to be reluctant to change, especially when there was nothing wrong with the old way. Don't sweat it. I've taken a look at your other sites and they are very well done, I'm sure we will all be very happy with the move when it is done and we get used to the...

    Compressor problem... opinions?

Also sounds to me like broken reed valves. They are thin metal flaps that act as one way valves. After bending back and forth so many times they eventually break.

    bandsaw favorite

I used a Jet bandsaw quite a bit at a place I used to work. That thing had been to hell and back and it still cut great, (if not perfectly straight). The only limit to the thickness of material it would cut is how wide the clamp would open and how long you were willing to wait. As someone else...

    removable floor anchor

To keep the holes clean and avoid having a bolt head sticking out you could use a peice of threaded rod with a slot cut in the end. Screw it in with a flat screwdriver so the top is flush with the concrete.

How to tell a cordless tool battery is fully charged

DUH guys! It's easy to tell. A charged battery is heavier than a dead one.

    Ever Replace a Timing Belt?

Why do they still use timing belts? Cheap, light, quiet, and don't require lubrication like a chain or gears. Some engines will suffer damage from a broken belt (interference engines), and some won't (non interference or "freewheeling") I don't know which one your Stratus is but obviously...

    EFI question

A couple possible reasons for running rich: The engine thinks it is running colder than it really is. Test your temperature sensor/s. In other vehicles I have seen leaks in the exhaust system before the O2 sensor cause rich running. Air gets sucked into the leak and the sensor sees the extra...

    Need a nice hose/tubing cutter

Craftsman Handi-cut is one of the best tools I have found for cutting hose. The razor sharp replaceable blades will cut through just about anything. I've even cut battery cable and small diameter soft copper tube.

Tools That you Wouldn't BUY AKA. Tools that ****!!

Anything that says, "AS SEEN ON TV" on the package. Anything with a pointless marketing tie in. "official Nascar socket extensions". Real tools don't need a gimmick and why pay more for it. Locking pliers not made by Vise Grip. I havn't found any yet that worked well.

    Any takers? Some email fun...

That Crescent tool set stainless box combo looks familiar to me. I think I saw the same thing (or similar) at Costco recently for far less money.
