    The Harbor Freight PASS/FAIL Thread...

That may or may not be true. I am pretty generic with my tool reviews, and some of them appear to be basically the same. Since you can make up your screen name and have it be different every time, it's possible that my personal review come off as "fake".

    Best "budget priced" 1/2" ratchet?

Close, but not quite. The Titan has a slightly different head, that doesn't use a center screw for the selector lever. It's and EXTREMELY durable ratchet and I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

    Best "budget priced" 1/2" ratchet?

Actaully, the Husky is the Gearwrench clone, not the Kobalt. The Husky/Gearwrench are both made by Apex. I thought about going with 120T Gearwrench but I liked the quick release offered on the Husky, so I settled for the 72T. For $19.99 how can you go wrong?

    Craftsman 142pc Socket Set?

As of January, the 299 pc socket set was still USA...or at least mine was.

    New From MAC Tools

I was going to say, I've seen Snap On, MAC and Matco running around in Carmel, I'd find it hard to believe there isn't one in the area.

    What to do?

+1 This^^^ I have a 26" Craftsman that I use just for storage of odd stuff. It has some deep drawers that I use fishing tackle boxes to fill. Works great as they're transportable too. *I hate deep drawers and it's why I always try to buy the boxes with thin drawers. Tool boxes are too...

    Which Dremel ?

Thanks for that link. I've got an older Dremel and love it! I didn't even realize they had a keyless chuck for it. I got so tired of that stupid little wrench that I just recently bought one from Cripe's to keep in the tackle box. BTW, I bought a tackle box to store my Dremel and accessories...

Who (and why) would still use Philips vs Pozidriv ?

Pozidriv are very common on ski bindings, and come to think of it, I am not sure who doesn't use them on ski bindings.

    Toolbox drawer dividers?

I don't know if I'd go drawer dividers. This is much easier, and portable for when you need to move them. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Flambeau-Outdoors-Tuff-Tainer-with-Zerust/10569384 I have most of my consumables stored this way...screwdriver bits, drill bits, recip blades, jig saw blades, ect.

    Too many tools

I've wondered about this myself to be honest... In just combo wrenches I have... Set of Craftsman Professional USA including large sizes in MM and SAE Set of Craftsman raised panel USA 12pt (minus really big sizes) in MM and SAE Set of Craftsman raised panel USA 6pt (all sizes made) in MM and...

Why I buy from Harbor Freight - No bashing!

I think technology has played a huge part in this as well. Where's the rotary phone these days and the 3 prong connector that were around for decades? Do people even have home phones anymore? Things progress rather quickly, and changes in technology are instantaneous. Just look at smart phones...

    Small cheap air compressor suggestions

I am sure the Harbor Freight is fine for what you're doing, but keep your eye open for clearance models at the big box stores. I picked up my Porter Cable from Home Depot for less than $50. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Porter-Cable-3-5-Gal-135-PSI-Pancake-Compressor-PCFP02003/203254365

go to for "in store" tool purchases?

Well, I just looked up a 1/2 metric socket set from HF... $8.99 after using the 25% off coupon. What you don't use or want to keep in your main box...throw in a tool box in the corner. I am 99% sure the Pittsburg Pro's are made in Taiwan too.

A "normal" person has 1...if that. This place is not normal.

Is Lowes getting rid of Kobalt?

You could knock me over with a feather if that were true. I 100% don't see it. As a matter of fact, I'd say the Kobalt brand is getting stronger and more prevalent. It's hard to buy a tool in Lowes that ISN'T Kobalt. The Blue Hawk line is replacing Task Force, that's all. It's their entry...

Snap-On Jump Pack made in China?

    does a 5pt socket exist?

I know my water company didn't care, and actually showed me where it was when I bought my house so I could shut the water off when I was working on it. The big giant dumpster in the driveway was a clue. Oh, and for the record, they used Channellocks to open mine. *I still want the socket

What's y'all's opinion on these boxes?

Just buy another HF box? Still WAY ahead monetarily. Heck, but 2 from day one and strip it for extra parts...still WAY ahead. Me personally if I were working in that field on a daily basis, I'd probably pick up something used off Craigslist or visit the Kennedy outlet in Van Wert, OH.

    Darn you Garage Journal!!

Yea, I hear you! I've been here a little over a year, and my tools have doubled if not tripled just because of this place. I went from a chest of drawers, a cabinet and a 26" Clarke top box to a HF 44", and a 26" stack (top and bottom). How did that happen? What was my daily stuff became my road...
