    Ideas for cutting concrete

it would be a lot easier to install gutters and threshold seals to keep the rain runoff away. Trimming a couple of inches off the bottom of the garage door might fix the window alignment. I don't see any easy way to trim that lip back. It looks pretty rough/jagged too - maybe some kind of...

Experience with Nitric acid for broken screw removal

I just saw a Youtube video about this technique last week. It was posted by the AvE guy - I'll see if I can find a link. edit: www.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D7pN-fnUeA3o&usg=AFQjCNEpVDXpmhQlIfgo0iWg97yfMgIvvw

Vendor For Log Splitter Pump Needed

Yep, two good suggestions. I'd take the old one apart and see what went wrong first - could be as simple as a damaged seal or plugged screen. If it's truly scrapped then see what Surplus Center has available or check on E-bay. You probably want a two-stage pump with similar displacement to...

    Stopping rust on machined surfaces

I haven't had great results with Jonhson's paste wax. My machines still rust even with a couple of coats, but I'm in the Texas gulf coast and 90%+ humidity is the rule for much of the year. I'm going to try Boeshield next.

I'm really liking this echo chainsaw.

If I were going to buy a new saw today it would be an Echo. They're the best price/performance spot in the market today. But I'd never buy a new saw anyway ... They're relatively simple to repair and there's an endless supply of used pro saws available in pawn shops, estate sales, ebay, etc...

Thoughts on the "handy clamp tool"?

That's a great idea. I hate those little spring clamps and every engine I own with a carburetor uses them extensively. I bet you could sell a ton of these to motorcycle shops.

    pocket hole jigs

I think pocket holes make a lot of sense for cabinet face frames, built-in bookshelves, etc. That said, I think they have no place in furniture. I guess I'm a luddite (and I'm only 35) but any piece worth making yourself is worth making right - and that means dovetails, mortise/tenon, etc...

Whats the best kind of paint for shop equipment?

I like the Rustoleum "hammered" finish because it does a nice job of hiding imperfections in the metal. Can't really screw it up and you don't need a ton of filling/sanding prep work.

    What flooring is this?

It looks like epoxy-coated concrete to me. Take a look in the flooring section of the forum for a lot of good examples and ideas.

I picked up this vintage Craftsman 150 Drill Press for $149, did I pay too much?

My friend, if you paid sticker price at a pawn shop then you definitely paid too much. In my honest opinion even $100 would be too high for that one.

Has anyone here built a Roubo-style Workbench?

I like the "split-top" style Roubo bench. It makes construction a lot easier since each piece of the top will fit through a normal size planer. I haven't built one yet but I hope to once the garage is finally finished...

    CPO Outlet Factory Reconditioned Sale

I bought a reconditioned Homelite electric chainsaw from CPO for like $35 and it works great. It's my go-to saw for anything under 4-5", perfect for thinning hedges or trimming small growth in trees. As long as there's an outlet nearby at least ...

What is everyone using in their Horrible Fright Ultrasonic cleaner?

I picked up a jug of the "heavy duty cleaner/degreaser" from HF (it's yellow-orange in color). I run it diluted about 3:1 and it does a good job. I have seen a little bit of etching/acid discoloration on aluminum parts if I don't rise them off thoroughly right after removing them. Only made...

CFM doesn't really matter with a impact gun,Right?

One can (and I have) easily run an impact wrench off of an air tank with no compressor at all installed on it, -0- cfm. Just pressurize it to 120 or whatever and haul it out to the field. You just won't be able to run it for long ...

Residential Network Cabling Training 2015 @ Select Home Depot Stores $89+tax

Damnit, I just finished completely redoing all the low-voltage wiring in my house. I made a lot of mistakes that I probably could have avoided if I had some training first. The value of the tools looks like it offsets at least half the cost of the class.
