    Any ICON fans?

I think I figured this one out. Pittsburgh (Pro) is not offering 6 point sockets except for deep sockets or 1/4 drive. Colored or chrome, all the shallow sockets in 3/8 and 1/2 drives are 12 point. You have to go ICON to get shallow 6 point sockets. Not sure if they always did this or if...

6-point box end wrenches in Europe

I bought mostly Armstrong 6-point wrenches from Cripe Distributing. Looks like they are still available. Note that the NAPA Pro, KD Tools and Allen brand wrenches all came out of the same factory as the Armstrong. At least the USA-made wrenches...

    Any ICON fans?

Building off Bubba Fett and dnschmidt, I think part of the reason that HF is pricing their ICON tools at a higher price is that the HF store has some advantages over HD, Lowes, and online shopping. Let's say you want a tool cart or toolbox, a nice set of chrome sockets, a beater set of impact...

    Any ICON fans?

I think qqzj's point was that the additional competitive pressure from the HF knock-offs forces (real) high-end tool companies to innovate more than they otherwise would, if there were no cheap substitutes. They also have to be competitive about pricing. So the Snap-on and MAC consumer...

    Any ICON fans?

If HF sold a lot of single sockets and wrenches in the store, that would make inventory mgt a lot harder. Imagine trying to stock singles of Pittsburg, Quinn, and Icon sockets. Also, to maintain a decent margin, they'd have to raise costs on those individual sockets to the point where...

Stanley is losing money. Costs and products will be cut.

It does seem to me like SBD is competing directly against itself. It's also a little weird to see Stanley FatMax tool bags that directly compete with DeWalt. I always thought of the FatMax line as being good tape measures (the original FatMax tool) and average pliers (with fat rubbery grips)...

    Shipping container Q&A, Thoughts?

Matt on the Diesel Creek channel on Youtube started his workshop that way. Two shipping containers for storage and welding out in a clearing. Then he got a good deal on a pre-fab metal roof. Now, he's building his dream shop, but you check out the older videos. Here's a playlist of him...

If you click on the clearance option on this site, and go to the second to last page, it's all Williams, Wright, Wilton and Wiss. I wish I could easily justify buying those Wright wrenches but I probably have enough. Then there's this 1 inch drive breaker bar for $124...

What would your "90% box" look like?

This guy has a couple of customized steel tool totes that fit the theme of a 90% box. I like that he put magnets on the side for larger wrenches, ratchets and breaker bars.

Repair kit available for Duralast ratchets?

Do the 90 tooth conversions work for this model of ratchet? I bought the same set years ago when Grainger had that pricing error. Thought about trying to get a drop-in to increase the tooth count but maybe that would weaken the ratchet?

Adjustable wrench vs Plier wrench (i.e. Knipex)

When you say "split" worm gear, did you mean "square" instead? On this page they mention "square screws". https://www.toptools.co.jp/english/products/monkey-wrench-hx-series/ Would you say TOP adjustables have less play than an old US Crescent or Lobster brand? Just curious.
