    Wood furnace

I think you'll have more success heating that 3000sq/ft house with a big outdoor boiler. Whereabouts in this vast nation are you? I'm just outside of ottawa and it can get pretty cold. January and February can be sustained -25C deep freezes. (Without the windchill factor)

    The pine garage/ shop

Well that's the funny thing about insulating, the air gap created between the insulation and the metal roof, with sufficient soffit and ridge venting, should stay the same temp as the outside. No temp difference means no condensation.

    The pine garage/ shop

I also cheaped out and just strapped and tined my roof, my 2"x10" rafters gave me lots of air space above my r22 roxul that I tucked in between, then vapour barrier.

let's see your concrete block garages

I dunno, I kinda like it and it's potential. That's a very cool looking block specimen you have there! What's the slogan say on the sign? I can't quite read it

Gonna have to lean towards the lift operator sucking balls on this one

    My TINY Single - 9'8" x 18'7" - Challenge Accepted!!

Seeing as how there is no ceiling in there, if you added a rafter between the trusses it would be a perfect "up and outta-the-way" spot to stick you're spare tires

Older radial arm saw on the cheap

I think you bought yourself a nice stand (; My personal opinion is they don't do anything very well. I have my grandfathers 10" craftsman up at the cottage and it works but you're constantly chasing a square cut. Just picked up a table saw for the cottage, now looking for a 12" miter saw, then...

    Strength of chain vs cable

Either will do, in my experience locking something only keeps the lazy thieves at bay and the honest people honest. My only suggestion is stainless cable or anodized/coated chain.

    Swamp Thunder Garage

    Nice bike! I've got a 2002 xr400r that I "street legalized" soooo much fun being able to rip down the highway to the next trail. The knobbies left you a bit numb after along run on the pavement but well worth it (;

    44 Bikes Frame Shop

I noticed one vent hole on your wife's new bottom bracket is larger than the other, is that there to accommodate internally routed wiring? Oh and no heart on the seat tube, too time consuming I suppose? Your building style is so very organized and well thought out almost rhythmical. Very...

    Mounting lights on garage door???

You could always use a retractable extension cord reel to power the lights, you'd just have to discombobulate the usually broken cable stop.

Is it worth building if the building is small?

Oooo I want a lift, even in my small shop. Everything is easier when you're not constantly picking yourself up off the floor. I also want to build a sweet work table to lay across the legs when not hoisting cars - adjustable height, motorcycle/atv lift, project table, load things in and out if...

Is it worth building if the building is small?

Can you post a picture of your house so we know what style this new shop has to follow? I personally think 720sqft is plenty big enough to be a great shop! I live with 420sqft of interior floor space and although it's tight I make it work. My only plan is to make it a bit deeper than the...

24" O/C trusses ok or not?

Pretty sure the OSB in your kit will be exterior grade weather proof so you don't have to worry about it exploding if it gets wet. If it's possible to upgrade to thicker stuff without much hassle I would with 24" centers, especially if you're shingling. You'll find the 7/16" to be a bit springy...
