I keep it on the work truck. The handle stays outside, and aluminum doesn’t rust. I guess I always preferred the feel of the aluminum handle too, my 15 year old one is still pretty much perfect while the 6 year old one is looking kind of rusty.
I have a Pittsburg 3 ton aluminum jack that’s maybe 15 years old. It came with an aluminum handle. I have another of the same jack about 6 years old, that one came with a steel handle. I chatted with harbor fright customer service last year and they told me the jacks come with aluminum...
Astro Thor? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/apt-498k. I don't actually own one, I have the snap on unit. But everyone loves the Thor impact wrenches, I can't imagine the air hammer would be a total disappointment...
When someone else walks into my shop they see absolute chaos. When I walk into my shop I mostly see everything where I want to it to be. I wouldn’t consider it organized, most things are in the location they were used last and that’s where I like to find them. So for some people organization...
I bought a snap on hand spin model for my home garage, I use it with a manual tire changer I made. They don’t take up a lot of space and the balancer works perfect.
I do a lot of off-road type tires and I friggin hate dealing with tire shops. They never wanna take the time to rotate the...
I been using a kiwi3 obd2 Bluetooth dongle with dashcommand app for something like 7 years. I actually preordered the kiwi3 before they were released, never had any issues with it.
I saw a post of yours the other day on here and was wondering if you were the same Mr. N from pirate4x4. Anyway I think sealed u-joints come with silicon based grease, at least that’s what it seems like when I take them apart, but I don’t have any data to back that up. The issue would arise...
For a work bench top I don’t think it matters to be honest. I have a 3/16” thick skid plate for my rock crawler made from ar-450. It’s roughly 4’x4’ sheet with no added structure and and can support the weight of my 5,000lb truck on a point load in the middle without deforming. Also good...
I just picked up another S4. For $120 I couldn’t pass it up. Got it from an older fellow, said he got it to work on his 79 f350 in the early 80’s but hasn’t used it in at least a decade. He couldnt remember if he bought it off a shop or another home mechanic but it was purchased used. I...
Ive seen sockets with an oval hole for holding the stem of a shock absorber while you spin the retaining nut, 1/4 drive seems a bit small for that application though.
I use an in ground lift at work that’s filled with vegetable oil. Our building was the first car dealer in Monmouth county NJ and came with 2 in ground lifts when my boss moved in. He removed one lift and rebuilt the other one before I started working there so I don’t know any details other...
Did you bother to check the price of an IR battery? One 5.0ah battery at grainger cost more then that double pack of Milwaukee 6.0ah batteries at HD. https://www.grainger.com/product/48KT06?gucid=N:N:FPL:Free:GGL:CSM-1946:tew63h3:20501231
Modern batteries can and do **** the bed when the bms...
I work in an industrial setting for over 10 years and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a IR battery powered tool in the wild. I’ve seen countless Milwaukee, Makita, or Dewalt. Could be something to do with the location or industry I’m in though?
