Did you, or if this picture was taken from somewhere else, actually bolt that to the floor?

    Motion Sensor Light Switches

I've seen these switches before at some business's. They appear as a direct replacement for a traditional light switch. Like this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006JMNJ6/?tag=atomicindus08-20 The ones I've seen looked a little bit more aesthetic and with a sleeker push button for manual on/off...

Need Input, Planning Stage of Garage Addition and Driveway

Right now in the planning stage of wanting to either have a detached or attached garage addition and at the same time something done with the driveway as it's small, gravel, and becoming very muddy easily. I'd like to go concrete with the driveway. Here is how my house is now. Don't mind my...

What are my "temporary" options to heat my garage this winter?

I don't have a basement, and I think storing solvent paint in the house is a really bad idea. Did I mention I have a LOT of it so it's only feasible to store in the garage on the shelving system I have. What about the garage door? I've installed a digital (La Crosse brand) thermometer and...

What's all needed to insulate the roof side of attic and not cieling?

While I will think about sealing the ductwork eventually for minimize air leaks, I still need to go the route of converting to insulating the roof side. I want to be able to use the attic as a storage area that is conditioned too. Edit to add: What do you guys think of this system...

What are my "temporary" options to heat my garage this winter?

Since the garage door is limited in thickness in the area to insulate, about 2 inches, would spray foam closed cell be the best bet or rigid foam? How else can I seal the garage door better? That is definitely a large heat loss. I have even more paint now so I really need to solve this sooner...

What's all needed to insulate the roof side of attic and not cieling?

Good site. After reading some more info I think I found a plan, but still not sure. Close the gables/soffit vents off somehow. Spray closed cell foam in the attic roof, not sure how many inches, and then do two layers offset and taped of rigid foam boards. Is this the right way to convert...

What's all needed to insulate the roof side of attic and not cieling?

This question is for not only my attached one car garage, but the whole entire house. I'd prefer to have my attic be part of the "conditioned" zone so my HVAC system ducting isn't exposed to the same outdoor temperatures, but I'd like to store temperature sensitive stuff in the attic. Plus...

    personal space heater

Should you have ceiling fans blowing down or blowing up toward the ceiling? I always thought it was the latter for winter months so you don't have the fans cooling effect, but pulling the air through the room and down the walls by pushing up.

What are my "temporary" options to heat my garage this winter?

The garage is attached, but I believe it was poorly added on from looking at various points inside at some point of the life of the building. I need to snap off a few pictures for you guys soon. The exterior of the garage is the same siding as the house, but who knows if they properly added...

What are my "temporary" options to heat my garage this winter?

Freezer idea isn't really feasible as not only have have to find an old freezer, but I also would have to buy several of them, because even though this is just a small one car attached garage I have a LOT of automotive paint and other temperature sensitive chemicals. The "man door" would be the...

What are my "temporary" options to heat my garage this winter?

Not enough space to do so. It has to stay in the garage. I'm afraid of that exactly, costing too much. We don't have natural gas, just all electric at our house.
