What are my "temporary" options to heat my garage this winter?

Just bought this house back in May. Haven't had a chance to start renovating the attached one garage as we've been busy with the rest of the house and not ready to do so now either as I don't have a plan. Probably come Spring. Anyways I need solutions to effectively heat it to at least...

    Welding resistant floor

I'm really interested to see what holds up. I'm not doing my garage floor soon, but I like to plan ahead. I've been thinking of doing porcelain tile all along, but also thought about stained concrete. Thing with stained concrete is I'd have to have the floor repoured to fix that look since...

Marking Tools From Thieves and Others

Yeah I was preferring a way that will hold up better and not have to keep repeating the process. I want to do it for the same reason, quick identification between honest co-workers. I agree SSN is a bad idea, but what if you ever move to another state won't that make the then old driver's...

Post signs that declare i have video cameras watching you an my property or not ?

While we're on the subject what are some good systems to have? I myself have wanted a surveillance system just in case. I agree that not advertising is the best bet.

    Battery Tender recommendation

I've always used the Battery Tender Jr. brand for my motorcycles and have had no complains, and have known others use it too. I, and others I knew actually hooked up those quick connects so that we used them not just during storage times, but day to day. Out of habit, hook it up after riding...

Plans to build a powder coating oven for motorcycles frames?

As usual, great insight. Yes I currently have a hobby gun from Eastwood. I plan on doing it commercially so I will eventually have to upgrade Do you not have quality problems by doing it outside? I would think that would be worse than in the garage.

Marking Tools From Thieves and Others

I guess I will go with marking them with either a paint marker with a color(s) line/band, and with nicer items maybe actually tape off and paint them with automotive paint. That way to separate between those I consider honest, but just easy to identify MY tools. As far as theft, I think I...

Paint them how? What will take the abuse of tool use and not rub off in a heart beat?

Marking Tools From Thieves and Others

That's what I'm saying it seems like you only have two options, either permanent (thieve deterring) and co-worker identification. I have a large portion of tools engraved already, but the thought came up again after buying some new tools that are pretty nice. Debating if I should engrave...

Marking Tools From Thieves and Others

What are some options for "marking" tools out there? It seems like your only option to protect from thieves is to permanently engrave it, but then you ruin re-sale value. Then again, most tools are not really worth much again resold and I can't remember the last time I sold one. The other...

Let's talk about those "mobile" garages, trailers!

Looks like I will ultimately get two trailers. One small enclosed one for riding lawn mower/2 motorcycles, and then the big cost is a car trailer whether open or enclosed. What brands should I look out for and which ones to avoid? Going to start paying attention to Craigslist/etc. What is...

Plans to build a powder coating oven for motorcycles frames?

Was just re-reading over this. So are you saying you actually reclaim the overspray powder in your dedicated separate spray booth? Wouldn't you still have those issues like you mentioned or no?

Electricity...Do you take it for granted?

We take it for granted for sure. I know my wife and I would probably be screwed in the event of any long term outage as we are not prepared. We just moved into our first house back in May. Probably should gather a reasonable amount of supplies like water, light sources, food, etc. for a storm...

Call the stores directly. They don't always show what's in stock online.

Let's talk about those "mobile" garages, trailers!

You guys are killing me on going back and forth between open flat bed and enclosed lol. What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting when towing either?

Let's talk about those "mobile" garages, trailers!

How long of a trailer do you guys think? Not sure if 18' would be best. Plus I keep seeing way different price ranges from around $1k to that $5k one.

Let's talk about those "mobile" garages, trailers!

Looks like a solid deck open car trailer is my best bet, and maybe either a tent option like shown above, or getting a cheap small enclosed if I have a need for weather protecting small stuff. Are there certain brands of open bed solid deck trailers to look for or just find any one on...

Let's talk about those "mobile" garages, trailers!

Trying to decide which route to go with on trailers. I'd like to have a car trailer to haul a car if needed, especially if I want to go buy broken down projects on Craigslist, and yet also transport small things like motorcycle or even lawn mower. Pros and cons input on either situation: One...

Plans to build a powder coating oven for motorcycles frames?

Maybe it's my obvious lack of actual powder coating since I don't even have an oven yet, but why could you not powder coat in the oven itself? Wouldn't you just have to sweep up the "overspray" off the bottom and be done?

Plans to build a powder coating oven for motorcycles frames?

Didn't even think of that with long items. Although on the flip side one nice thing about a horizontal setup it seems is you could block off sections to make the oven smaller instead of heating up the whole thing and more even heat distribution. Nice article too btw!
