    Next tool to restore...

You can read it on the tag, its a Thor brand grinder. Is that a 7 for a 7 inch? You can see some examples here: http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/detail.aspx?id=1985&tab=4

    Delta 6 X 48" sander side cover

You might be able to scare up a replacement if you post over on the owwm.org site in the boyd (bring out your dead) forum. The sister site, vintagemachinery.org also has a classifieds section now as well. Both are good sites if you are into older wood and metal working machinery.

Bench Grinders...the good, bad and ugly??

Keep an eye on the auction sites that get the stuff schools and local municipal govts. sell off. I picked up an 8" baldor a couple of years ago for around 50 bucks. They seem to show up every now and then.

decent table saw for under $300

There are lots of saws that show up on CL, most common type is a contractor saw that has the motor hanging out the back and the trunnions (the parts that mount the arbor and blade and allow it to pivot) are mounted to the underside of the saws top. The problem with most of these saws...

    vintage DeWalt Radial arm saw

I actually migrated back from a 12" miter saw to first a rebuilt Dewalt MBF which is a 9" saw and then to my current saw, a 10" Delta 30c. Going much farther back, these are actually the 3rd and 4th radials that I have had, the first being a total POS B&D saw with an 8" blade and curved tube...

The most beautiful Craftsman lathe there ever was.......

Beautiful restore job, probably way above what it looked like when it was new. Too bad they are regarded as mostly useless unless you are turning plastic or aluminum. I had one and sold it off, parts are tough to come by and expensive on ebay. 750 bucks, wow.

Harbor Freight 2 Ton Shop Crane?

I've got a 2 ton model, don't know if its HF or not. Could be Northern or any one of the other places that sells them, they seem to be all similar if not identical except for paint. I would look on the local CL, I picked up mine for 65 bucks along with an attachment to balance off center...

junker to jewel - before and after tool restorations

That Delta 30C was probably the wildest color that I have done so far. It's basically Navy blue and gold. I'm over on OWWM quite a bit and and I think it didnt get all that great a reception there because of the color, but I like it. I've done plenty of tools in the basic gray but sometimes...

    An Airstream Workshop

I'm one of those folks that owns and is in the process of refurbishing a '73 27 foot model called an Overlander. I can tell you that the general perspective of folks on the Airforums site is that it's your trailer, do what you want with it. Many folks do a "Full Monte" on their trailers...

    Hi from Portsmouth, VA

I've been putzing around in my garage for many years, have come across this website on and off and decided to finally join up. My garage is not used as a garage as much as it is my workshop. I think a car has been in it just once in the 14 years we have lived here. It's not a large space...
