    Powermatic 1150 Drill Press

Good score. It looks like it has a table that maybe was repurposed as a base? Does it have a base below what is in the pictures? Those presses have extraordinarily long strokes, that one is close to 6 inches. Most of that era are green. When they get painted in funky colors the term used...

Walker Turned Radial Arm drill press ID help

Then ask 2-300 and it should move in it's present condition. The market for old machinery isn't that great and the up and coming generations are not into fixing things or building things. The only thing to be careful about is whoever comes to get it should be able to move it which is not a...

Walker Turned Radial Arm drill press ID help

Check out vintage machinery website here: http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgindex/detail.aspx?id=808&tab=4 Just for S&G's I perused FBMP and saw a few within a 500 mile radius. Prices were all over the place. But if you expect top dollar it has to be in running demonstrable shape. 3 phase is...

    Interesting Walker Turner drill press

Can't be quite sure from the pix, but its probably one of their radial drill presses. Think of it as a cross between a radial arm saw (radio alarm saw) and a drill press. It had the ability to move in and out and tilt right or left as well as a very large cast iron table to work on. Here are...

What vintage or non vintage tools do you like to collect???

I've been into vintage woodworking and some metalworking power tools for a while. Most were bought in less than optimal condition and refurbished to varying degrees but all with the intention of keeping them in use. Not a complete list but here's a few. It tends to be a bit Delta/Rockwell...

Selling off tools on Marketplace . . . lowballers come out of the woodwork

I've bought and sold lots of stuff on CL, but in the last year or so have moved over to FBMP because that seems to be where the action is. There was some stupidity on CL, but FBMP takes it to a new level. The fact that these morons can just click a couple of boxes to send a response instead...

    Band Saw Advice

Part of the answer is how thick will the wood be that you intend to cut? If it is only and inch or two, a 14" saw, vintage or not will do fine. Most of any saws capability depends on the blade and how it's tuned up. It sounds like you dont have much experience with using a bandsaw so you will...

Converting a Wood bandsaw to metal cutting

Depends on what you want to cut. Metal saws generally run quite a bit slower and if you want to cut ferrous metals a wood saw probably wont cut it. I have an INCA 10" that I run a bi-metal blade on and cut thin aluminum stock just fine. As for the VFD, AFAIK, it will only work with a 3 phase...

    WTB Cabinet Saw

Looking for a cabinet saw, Delta, Powermatic, Laguna for example. Would prefer a saw with a riving knife but will go old school depending on what is offered. A modern fence rather than one of the older tubular style jet lock is preferred. 3 phase is OK, I can go 220 or 110. I'm in SE...

How many battery platforms are you using for power tools?

I have a ton of Bosch 12 and 18 v tools. Picked up replacement batteries over time as well, usually they would go on sale around black friday. Also have some no name versions, some work better than others. I Makita 18v tool, a ratchet that I got as a present and to have a different platform...

    Tools of Japan

I had them recovered by Western Roller https://westernroller.com/ It's been quite a long time so you would have to contact them directly to see if they still will do that kind of job. This is what the new rollers looked like:

    Craftsman Drill Press maker

Thats a decent press, Emerson would be my guess too. Taiwanese made. 20" so it will be on the heavy side. If you lower the table and the head it should be a little easier to move, less top heavy. I'm not so sure that the motor is really 2hp. That was from the time when sears uprated...

    Tools of Japan

Not sure if this qualifies since it looks like most of the discussion is about hand tools, but this is most definitely a Japanese oddity in the states. I picked it up about 16 years ago and didn't have it well strapped down or even low down in my Tundra and it took a tumble out of the bed and...

    Crack in drill press chuck

You can pop the chuck off and replace it easy enough. Its a jacobs taper 3 fitting. If you are looking for top dollar then replace it. If you want to drop 50 to 100 off the price then leave it alone. A new chuck will cost you about 15 to 20 bucks for decent one.

    Repurposing radial arm saw

I'm a fan of RAS's but the craftsman saws were garbage. I have a Delta 30C turret arm with a 2hp motor that I keep around mostly for long straight crosscuts. The kind that no SCMS is going to get close to. The older Dewalt cast iron arms (either round or rectangular) are also good. They have...

I'm confused, is Metabo (non HPT) a pro level tool?

Metabo is a German/Euro brand, similar to Bosch. They bought out Hitachi and rebranded it Metabo-HPT or something along those lines. I wouldnt consider them (HPT) pro level but probably not bad either. My only Metabo tool was a corded jigsaw that I would say was equal to Bosch but that was...

Sprunger 15" drill press replacement quill/bearings/chuck

If you dont already have an account, go over to owwm.org and get an account and see what help they can provide. This is what they live and breath for. Sprunger was not a well know brand back in the day, so replacement parts like a spindle probably wont be forthcoming. But common things...

Help with Luxury Vinyl Plank floor

I agree, its not locked together. Now how you get it to do that is the question. Not sure about all brands but the flooring I put down recently (Pergo) in a motorhome, you had to start at one side and work all the way to the other. If you were doing two rooms, then you would take the planks...
