GFCI & refrigerator - puzzling situation

Ok, don't check you're circuit, and don't put the fridge on a gfi port. Outlet. There's no code saying you can't, but you don't want to and you just found out why. The burn on the wire was not from the flash, and gfi's don't trip from a surge in amperage. The fact that you're fridge never...

    shop press how big?

Hello, I'm doing my ball joints and bushings opn my chevy express 2500. I tried using one of those 10ton c shaped presses you can rent from autozone, also an air hammer, joints didn't budge. I may buy a press, what is a good size to have in the shop, anyone know? I was thinking 30-40 ton...

Is there better looking Main box install

Also, you can't run SEC in the wall, unless surrounded by 2" of concrete or brick. Maybe could have got you're power company to do a midline tap so they didn't have to go over you're roof with the drop, then you could have ran SEU cond, much less noticable, though need to be sleeved in conduit...

Is there better looking Main box install

That looks horrable. Should have used rigid cond for strength, rigid standoffs that go through wall with threaded rod,, tight to overhang if not enough of overhang to go through. Also, the service drop conductor clearance is 8' from the roof, unless you have a slope of not less than 4" in 12"...

Wish I'd had more time with Dad !

My Dad was frugal too, wish I had more time with him, he passed away a cple mo. ago. He repaired everything instead of buying new. I spent a lot of time with him though, lived with me 4.5 yrs, then had to put him in assisted living facility down the road. Saw him almost every day, and was with...

How to find which nail shorted wires?

Awe! Forgot about that. Than i guess I'd take the hot off the breaker and ground it and hit the nails with a Ohmeter to the nail and the other lead to ground. If there were a million nails to deal with, I'd start by removing devices from the affected circuit at different intervals till the br...

How to find which nail shorted wires?

very lucky. But to find wich nail if you were'nt so lucky, I use one of those beeping testers where it dosen';teven have to make contact on the wire and it beeps and light blinks when it senses voltage. You could haave just run it by all the nails on the outside, and you'd have found it. Glad...

    Melted outlet (pics)

That's another way to do it, myself, I would. Just connect to the outlet, unless it's a multiwire branch circuit, running neutral through device like that is a violation. But keep in mind, a guy that can't properly connect wires to an outlet surely won't be able to make a good spice.lol I know...

    Melted outlet (pics)

If you look closely, you can see one wire is rapped around the screw the wrong way, and the other has the insulation under the screw, obviously an amature installtion. They were loose, that's all. But do cut each wire back enough so you have a nice unheat damaged copper, you know, not...
