I used to do work in the driveway when I just rented a house with no garage. Definitely a less desirable way to do things. I just kept my small assortment of tools at the time in the coat closet. Luckily, my generous neighbor had a full shed with air, woodworking, etc. that I would just use in...
As requested, below is a preliminary picture of the new compressor in place where it will go and a very rudimentary drawing of the air line plan, made according to this thread. Sorry for my total lack of artistic talent.
As you can see in the drawing, I plan to plumb the line straight back from...
I had a cricket and spider problem. As I said in other threads, I sprayed Ortho Home Defense around the exterior and interior walls and crickets were completely gone within 48 hours. Took all of 10 minutes.
Thanks to those who voted. Horse stall mat is the clear winner! I think it will look cleaner to have one big mat than four individual pads. Plus, its hard to be free! I just need to convince the wife to bring home a piece of mat next time she is at the barn!
Thanks! I thought that looked like unistrut, but I have never used the stuff so I am not too familiar. I am planning on plumbing my compressor next week and will basically use this thread as a guide. Thanks again!
Ortho Home Defense works great for me. Just spray it around the exterior of the house and the interior of the garage and you should be fine. Doesnt take long at all and last a long time.
Exactly. To me, paying $20 on Amazon prime is probably a better use of my resources than the gas and three hours it would take me to to drive up to my wife's barn to cut up a horse stall mat and drive back.
I am not sure of whether having the compressor on one big mat is better than on four...
You just use pieces of cut up horse blankets? I am not sure how my wife will feel about me cutting up her horse blankets - those things are expensive!
I do have a steady supply of hockey pucks as I used to play myself. I was one of the few Atlanta Thrashers fans, when the team was here. At...
That website was helpful - it seems the all rubber pads by the same company might be an even better bet, although people on Amazon say they smell awful.
They can be had direct from the manufacturer for around $17 with shipping.

Very simple question on how to mount my 60 gallon vertical compressor:
Should I use:
1) a horse stall mat or
2) four of these rubber anti-vibration pads:

Both have the same cost to me (pads cost $20 v. me driving an hour each way...
Strouty,
Thank you for creating what appears to be the best thread on air line plumbing I have found on GJ to date.
Two quick questions for your great looking setup:
1) are you just planning on leaving your compressor sitting unaffixed to the floor with no vibration pads? It looks stable as...
So I washed the cars last week. I plugged the 5/8" hose directly into the tap and then into the hose reel. Standing in the same spot, I used a fireman's nozzle on the same setting to see how far the water would travel. The water only went marginally farther, maybe 5-10%, when plugged directly...
It is obviously a QT-5, but hard to discern any other specs from it or its age. Does look super old, but also doesnt look recent.
Might be a good deal at $700 if its in decent shape, although some of the Modern QTs still have the high RPM engines...
Yes I read this thread, and it really just turned into a lot of needless arguing. I thought I would attempt the same thing again because we dont need to be scientific about everything to be a little helpful. There of course will be a good bit of variation between users and measuring devices...
